Topic: UFX+ and Thunderbolt 4

I would like to build a new PC to use the UFX + via Thunderbolt. The new motherboards equipped with TB ports are all Thunderbolt 4. I would like to know if these ports are compatible with UFX + using my Startech TBT3TBTADAP adapter. Or if I need to use another adapter (if one exists) or alternatively, use a PCIe Thunderbolt card to install on the motherboard.
Hope you can help me. Thank you.

RME UFX+, ASUS X99 Deluxe II, CPU i7 6950X, 128 GB RAM, GC-Titan Ridge 2.0 + Apple TB3-TB2 Adapter

Re: UFX+ and Thunderbolt 4

Hi Miele
The TBT3TBTADAP works for me on MacBook M1 Pro Thunderbolt 4 ports.
It should work but I have only used it for Thunderbolt 3 ports on PC’s.

I think Intel makes Thunderbolt chips for everyone - fact check for yourself.

Hope this helps,

Re: UFX+ and Thunderbolt 4

The Startech should work, because TB4 is fully compatible to TB3 via USB C.

Hello Miele, have you built your computer with the startech TBT3TBTADAP ? It works good with thunderbolt 4 from the motherboard rear ports? I'm also looking to build a new computer soon, same situation as you.

Also what cable you used? Seems like there is not much in stock for thunderbolt 2 cables, it needs to be from ufx+ to thunderbolt 2 cable into the startech adapter and the adapter in the computer right?

Thanks!

Re: UFX+ and Thunderbolt 4

I use the Startech adapter + official Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable with my ASRock TB4 card (z690 ASRock board).

It works fine, however the one issue I have and gave up on is I have to have the UFX+ powered up before I turn the computer on otherwise I will not get any sound (driver loads fine, total mix works...levels come up just no sound to the speakers).

This isn't a deal breaker for me, but would like to not have to power my computer down every night...I'd rather put it in sleep mode and then just power up my audio gear, but cannot get it to work.

I've tried everything imaginable...if you guys go down this route, please report back if you have the same issue.

Thanks!
