Topic: Brand new ADI 2 FS bug?

Greetings,

I bought the ADI 2 FS in march 2021. I took great care of it (never left my rack)

Now when I power it on, its "looping" the startup (goes on/off/on/off/on/off...) I've tried many different power sockets, still the same. It's very weird because I get this bug 1 out of 4 in the week...

I've captured it with my phone:

-Is it a power supply issue? (Should I buy a new power adapter)
-Should I send the unit to warranty?
-Is it a known issue with the FS?

I had bought many RME products and usually they are rock solid stable...

Thank you for reading,

Nate

Sure the power supply plug is properly connected?

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Yes I'm sure the power supply plug is properly connected.

Re: Brand new ADI 2 FS bug?

Could you also test another power supply, just to rule that out as a culprit?
If nothing changes, contact the retailer, please...

Re: Brand new ADI 2 FS bug?

Hi Daniel,

I'll test another power supply when it's bugging - Right now I'm working with it with no issues but, who knows, tomorrows it will be another thing..

I will contact the retailer.

Thank you for your help,

Best regards,

Nathaniel

It wasn‘t mentioned here:
The PSU plug has a twist-lock and won’t go all in if plugged in the wrong angle.
If plugged correct, you don’t see any silver part sticking out.

Hi KaiS,

Thank you for mentioning this. I've checked and it's properly plugged (tight locked & no silver part sticking out)

Hello, I've sent it to Thomann a few months ago, they sent it to AudioAG. In the test, the ADI-2 worked without problems.
However, I started to have the very same issues after 2 or 3 months. So I bought a new power supply. Same.

Every time the power plug was correctly connected (inserted with the locking mechanism exactly into the matching slots and turned so that the plug is fixed and cannot be pulled out)

I think my unit is defective. Especially because I encountered this the very first time I turn it on.
It is very strange because this behavior is unpredictable (that explain why they could not detect it when tested)...

I have found that when I change the frequency selection very quickly as soon as the power is ON, the unit is sort of stabilizing then it doesn't restart in loop anymore.

I really think there is a component that needs to be serviced in my unit.

So now I must re-sent it again tomorrow, but I'm afraid it will be the same scenario (strange behavior not happening at the test bench).

So the reason I write you is because I'd like to found a solution to this problem if they could not detect it. My warranty is valid but ultimately I will need a brand new functional unit...Please help me with this, it is very frustrating because I love this unit.

I made two video of the issue:
