Topic: ADI 2 Pro FS: Lots of crackling after some minutes of Playback (iMac)

Hi,

since a while I have massive problems with my ADI 2 FS Pro running on  a mac.
After few minutes of playback it starts to produce massive crackling sounds.
It starts always fine - sounds very much like digital devices that are connected and not in sync (no master clock).
But I have just the one device connected with USB..

Sebastian

Just to add: Turning the device off and on helps again for a few minutes - then it starts again to be increasingly worse

Re: ADI 2 Pro FS: Lots of crackling after some minutes of Playback (iMac)

I had this problem before though the (not continuous) noise is not loud.
Reproducible reliably when I press the bottom part of the case tightly.
I ignored the issue for a while and inside transistor finally blow up (smoke came out).
My theory is it may caused by some component's solder oxides,
so the loose joint is causing the noise.
pressing the bottom part of the case slightly tilts the pcb so the problem can easily occur
I'd recommend you send it to RME for diagnose. Something is wrong inside.

This issue can easily be explained by a broken OS installation, crazy tools working in the background, a defective USB cable, using an overloaded USB hub etc etc etc.

Before sending the unit in I would try it on another computer and/or iPad.

It seems like MC is right. I used an ifi USB Silencer (and completely forgot it). This caused the trouble.
So better not using that "improvement"..
Lets see if the problem is away for longer..
Regards & thanks.
