Topic: No Sound when activating Phantom Power on Babyface Pro FS

Hello guys, I've got an angry problem. Since today, when i activate my phantom power (I've got an NT1A) to record, the sound immediately immediately goes away. I don't know what this is. I've got a new monitor today plus a new gpu yesterday. After I installed everything, i noticed that the sound, without activating phantom power, switches 2 times from on to off, so I just decided to make a total reset in TotalMix (Something that helped me back in 2021 when i had almost the same problem) but it didn't help. Now the sound doesn't switch suddenly from on to off, but when i turn on the phantom power. I didn't change anything besides my new monitor and my gpu. So why is that? I also don't get a signal when the phantom power is on. That being said, when turn on phantom power for analog 2 I get a signal at least but i can't record with that. When I turn off the analog 1 and turn on analog 2, I suddently get a signal for analog 1.. I really don't know what to do right now.

I installed every new driver. I did a total reset (like I said) and I also replugged the babypro fs. Nothing helped. I will put down some screenshots, maybe you know what the problem is.

This one is the signal while listening to some music in spotify without phantom power on. Like you can see, i get a signal for the sound but the phantom power is still off.

This one is the signal, when I have music on and turn my phantom power on. Like you can see, I still have a signal from the music, but in reality there is no sound, it's absolutely silent, i can't hear nothing. But I also get no signal for my microphone, even though it's plugged in.

This is the signal shortly after I turned off my phantom power. I hear the music again, and like you can see, my microphone has a signal. Which is strange, because when the phantom power is on, there is no one.

What does that mean? I'm completely out of ideas, hope you guys can help.

Have you tried another USB port? It sounds like not enough power is being delivered to the bfp over usb for phantom power to work. Are you using a usb hub?

Yes, I tried every USB port I got. And no, i have no USB hub sad I'm completly out of ideas, maybe I need a new power adapter? Today it worked for a while, but suddenly got shut down again

I think that may be a good idea. Maybe the new gpu is drawing a lot of power and causing the problem.

Do you know if there is another possibility to connect the babyface pro fs with my pc, without using usb? Maybe this is a problem as well

Not really as it’s a USB interface, so that is the method of connection.

sorry to hear you're having issues after updating your computer.

do you have a laptop or other machine you could try this on? do you know how big of a power supply you have in your machine? I'm not discounting the new GPU being recently added but I do find it hard to believe that phantom power could be enough additional current to cause the BBF Pro FS to just stop working.

have you another microphone to try? just another thought.

Yeah, i tried it with another pc already. It worked like it should work. Which is strange, because after I plugged it in my computer again, it also worked.. It's like, sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Sometimes it switches between "sound, and no sound" and sometimes there is no sound, no matter what I do. I also noticed that sometimes after a while my sound also gets muted without activating phantom power. Today, when i was watching netflix, it happened. But worked again after some seconds.

About the power supply: I got an 850 watt one, which should be way enough for my system. 

Not really as it’s a USB interface, so that is the method of connection.

Yea I know, I am stupid, sorry. I meant, if there is a possibility to plug it with usb but with another connection, since you got the normal usb connection on the babyface, but is there like an adapter or something to connect the usb with the DC or the Midi entrance on the interface?

I actually don't think it's my power supply now if I think about it again, since I never had a problem with it and I think, if there is something like an over supply, my PC would just shut down and restart.

I think that it could be the XLR cable, but then again, why would it mute the sound instead of just don't work?

By the way, here is my system:

I may have a new reference point. My sound got muted again, so I check everything and I saw that when I started my daw, I still get a signal on my babyface even though there is no sound. I just looked at the windows sound settings and saw, that my audio interface wasn't listed there. When i replugged it, it was listed there again and I could hear sound again.. So there is a correlation maybe. Still, I don't get why.
