Topic: UFX+ and Digiface USB combined - what's the best option on M1 Mac

Hi

I am using Ableton Live on a M1 Macbook Pro.

The setup consists of 1 x UFX+ interface and 2 x Mytek 8X192 converters connected to ADAT i/o on UFX+.

One of the Myteks is set as the Master clock source for the whole setup, and it has to be this way because Myteks dislike external clocking. BNC cables are currently used for slaving. The setup runs at 48kHz so only a single pair of ADAT i/o's on Mytek units are used in connection with the UFX+.

I again need to add 8 more converter channels via ADAT, and unfortunately I've got no ADAT I/O left on the UFX+. I am looking at another 8X192 for this.

The available Digiface USB I've also got could provide me with additional ADAT ports for 8 more ADDA channels. However, with Mytek still needing to be the Master, and the Digiface USB has no other means of being physically slaved to Mytek, I am wondering how to best connect all this (?)

I read somewhere that I need to use aggregate option in the MacOS to join the UFX+ and Digiface USB into a "single" unit. I know that there's a latency increase when drift offsetting in the computer is used, so I am considering other options.

Can I maybe use a pair of ADAT i/o ports on Digiface USB to slave it to the unused pair of ADAT i/o ports on the Mytek Master?

Also, is there a better way to connect all this?
Thanks!

How is the second Mytek synced?
To use more than one device, there's no alternative to an Aggregate Device. With proper sync, there's no "drift" to compensate.

Thanks for the reply.

So in this scenario I'd have 3 Myteks 8X192, 1 UFX+ and 1 Digiface USB connected into a single system.

If I understand you right, I'd be aggregating the UFX+ and the Digiface USB in the computer, but not using the "drift" option because the devices are "hardware level" synced so there's no need for "drift" to be engaged on any of them?

Now, each of the 3 Myteks have 2 X ADAT I/O's as well as 3 X BNC WC Outs and 4 X BNC WC Ins.
UFX+ has 2 X ADAT I/Os and Digiface USB has 4 X ADAT I/Os.

1st Mytek would be the master, providing clock to all other devices. I would probably physically sync the Master Mytek to 2 Mytek Slaves with BNC cables. For syncing the UFX+ and the Digiface USB I would use ADATs from Master Mytek (even though I could also use the remaining BNC from Master Mytek for the UFX+).

My other question was if I can use the Master Mytek's unused ADAT OUT port to send clock to the (also unused) Digiface USB ADAT IN port and clock it like this?

Thanks!
