Topic: Input Select via Remote Control

Hello,

as described in the manual, I have now changed the basic mode to "DAC" and can now also switch the source via remote control.

Currently I'm using these two input sources: "AES" and "Optical (SPDIF)".

But now I'm faced with this behavior:
When I press the "OPT" button on the remote control, the optical signal is available immediately.
But:
When I press the "AES" button on the remote, the display first shows "Source Select USB 1/2" and I have to press the "AES" button again directly (then the display also shows "Source Select Auto") and only then is the AES signal available.

My question:
Is the normal behavior for the AES signal (or the AES button) or what do I have to set where so that the AES signal is available directly with just _ONE_ press on the "AES" button ?

Just tried to replicate this on my ADI-2/4 Pro SE (My ADI-2 Pro doesn‘t have a remote).
All works as intended, I can switch all inputs with a single button press.


From the manual page 18, read at least the bold parts:

9. RME Multi-Remote Control (MRC)

The included infrared remote control, manufactured exclusively for RME, offers an almost complete remote control in a clear way. It is pre-set to control the ADI-2 DAC. Pressing a button therefore causes the SEL(ect) LED to light up green. To control the ADI-2 Pro FS R code table 2 needs to be activated so that the SEL LED lights up in orange color. If the LED shows green, red or blue color, another code table is active that is not compatible with the ADI-2 Pro FS R.

To change the code table:

Keep SEL pressed until the LED lights up constantly.

Press button 2. The LED turns orange and then off. The remote control now works with the ADI-2 Pro FS R.

Note: SETUP – Options – SPDIF/Remap Keys - Remap Keys must be set to ON or Remote.


If this doesn’t help:

• Check if you are on a reasonable firmware version, latest Pro FW shows V1.15 at startup.

Maybe a factory reset helps:
• Unplug USB.
• During power up, press and hold Encoder 1 and the VOL Button (NOT the Volume dial!) until the message “Rest done” appears.

User EQ Presets and Setups are not deleted by this reset type.

Select DAC-Mode again afterwards.


Usually not necessary, but full “like new” reset that deletes all is:
• During power up, press and hold Encoder 1 and Encoder 2 and The VOL Button (NOT the Volume dial!) until the message “Rest done” appears.

You have probably accidentially changed mapping of I/O Key to Source USB 1/2. I/O Key has same function as IR Key 2 i.e. remote controller key 2 (AES). Remap said key(s) back to their default function, Source AES.


Key mappings are configured in ADI´s menu structure Setup --> Options --> SPDIF / Remap Keys -menu location. The parameter line won´t show setting affecting also to IR Key 2, it reads only "I/0 Key". Which sure-fire confuses everyone but most hardened ADI -specialists.

Hi,

no idea where exactly I could have changed that, but obviously I was able to eliminate the strange behavior with the reset (-> "During power up, press and hold Encoder 1 and the VOL Button") @KaiS: Thanks for pointing this out!

Now it behaves as I expect wink

Btw.: the remote control was already correctly set to the ADI-2 Pro (the LED was orange colored, although it looks more like "green-yellow" to me, but the cross test with the other LED colors also helped smile
The mentioned: "SETUP – Options – SPDIF/Remap Keys - Remap Keys must be set to ON or Remote" - it was already set to "Remote". I changed this from "Remote" to "ON" - but I have no idea if this option also has an impact on this exact behavior...

With ”On”-position you can have custom key-remapping AND remote.
So for your case both “Remote” and “On” works the same way.

On -state activates set key remappings ALSO to front panel four function buttons. Which then execute same functions as IR Keys 1-4. Short press uses remapped special function, long press the original function i.e. entering the menu.

I would leave "Remap Keys" to "Remote", to minimise the confusion. Unless you especially want that kind front button double -behavior.
