Topic: UFX II calibration

Hello all, first post here.

I'm using a UFXII with Pro Tools 2023.3.0 on OS 13.2.1

I noticed that bussing audio from protools to a mono analog output and connecting that directly to an analog input with a balanced TRS cable results in about 6 db in signal loss. All settings in totalmix are unity gain and the input channel is set to +4. Shouldn't the input level closely match the output signal in a direct loop? Is there another layer of gain staging or calibration that I'm unaware of?

thanks in advance for your help,

Zak

Re: UFX II calibration

Hi
The outputs are also switchable between different levels, have you the matching setting there?
Doing this cable loop thing on my Fireface400, I get accurate results.

UCX - FF 400 - Babyface pro - Digiface USB - ADI-2 (original)
Mac mini M1 - Macbook pro - iPad Air2

Re: UFX II calibration

If the balanced TRS cable is not actually balanced, you lose exactly 6dB. Maybe there is a broken connection on one of the TRS plugs.

Turns out it was user error as usual. I overlooked something in totalmix which caused the problem. All good now.

Sorry for the false alarm and thank you for your time and suggestions.
