Topic: Line Input only expansion possibilities via ADAT

Hi everyone,
I own a RME faireface uc and a couple of external preamps and other stuff I would like to connect to the RME but it doesn't have enough line inputs. Is there a way to connect more line ins via ADAT? I guess it should but I can't find a specific product, I would like not to change my interface which is working just fine.
Generally speaking, do you know any way to add more line inputs only if you use external preamps without breaking the bank? I could only find the ferrofish 16 mkII.
If anybody used it with an RME audio interface let me know about your experience.

The Ferrofish would work, but you can only use 8 of its channels.

Or any other AD converter with line level inputs and an ADAT output.
If you want something compact, you could hunt around for the old Swissonic/Musicnet AD24 on ebay.
Or a previous version of the RME ADI-8, DS or AE....
