Topic: UFXii no longer recognised my mac

Hi all,

Not much to say with this except my UFXii was working fine last night, turned it on today and neither my mac studio or MacBook are picking it up.

It’s really odd, just out of nowhere. It powers up fine, I can see the mic is passing signal, and all the knobs work etc - it simply will not talk to the computer.

I have a FF800 as well as a back up, and when I attached it, works 100%.

Anyone any ideas?

So far I’ve cycled power on/off, and updated software, I can’t update the firmware as there’s no signal path.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Andy

Re: UFXii no longer recognised my mac

Does the UFXii appear
- as USB device in system profiler?
- as audio device in Audio-Midi-Setup?
Could it be accidentally set to class compliant mode?
Did you try different USB cables?

No, doesn't appear in system
Not visible in Audio set up
Checking class compliant now - never used it before
Yes, changed cable

thank you for reply!

Re: UFXii no longer recognised my mac

If it's not detected as a USB device on the Mac then you have a hardware issue. Something in the USB connection is broken. You should contact your local RME distributor for a check up and repair as needed.

Re: UFXii no longer recognised my mac

The latest Mac OS update Ventura 13.4.1 disabled kernel extensions for me. I had to reinstall everything.

Thank you. Oddly it started working again for a few days, now stopped. I have contacted RME support.

Yikes - I hope not... sad

Re: UFXii no longer recognised my mac

It's not recognised on my older 2015 MacBook now either and it's a much older iOS. Thanks for the reply.

Re: UFXii no longer recognised my mac

Are you in touch with support? Because it's intermittent and reproducible on multiple machines/OSs, I suspect you might have a hardware failure of some kind in your UFX.
