Topic: [Solved] Connect RME Firface UFX+ Audio Interface to Mac Studio Issue

Hello,

I have just purchased a Mac Studio and tried to connect my RME FIREFACE UFX+ audio interface to it, but it doesn't seem to connect to the Mac. I am providing all the details below:

Chip: Apple M2 Ultra
Memory: 64 GB
Startup Disk: Macintosh HD
macOS Ventura - Version: 13.6

RME FIREFACE UFX+

Fireface USB
Firmware: v54
Driver: v4.08

Please also take a look at the attached image here: https://i.imgur.com/svInSak.jpg showing how the Mac appears to recognize the audio interface as frozen.

Please note that the connectivity is set up correctly, and the audio interface seems to pick up a signal when I play a YouTube video, but there is no sound either in the speakers or headphones.

Any idea why this happens and how it can be fixed?

Thank you,
Marius M.

A screenshot of Totalmix while music is playing would be helpful.

I can send screenshots with other settings or even a video.

Thank you!

The routing seems to be ok, there is signal on the output channel.
The photo is not sharp unfortunately.
Is the headphone assigned in the control room ASSIGN ?
Is the main-out assigned to the output where the speakers are connected ?

What do you mean by that?

As far I can see on your screenshots, all is ok. You have to click on the hardware output channel you have in use for your speakers, then raise up the fader of the software playback channel.

I have attached clearer images below:

Additionally, something quite funny and amazing is that while I was recording the video tutorial below to demonstrate how I navigate through the settings, I managed to make the headphones work.

Even though I went through the settings before posting here, I was only able to make it work in this video by activating CUE.

Thank you for the prompt response and involvement. I really didn't expect to resolve it so quickly.

You have assigned the Phones 1 to the Adat 9/10 but it should be assigned to PH9/10 !

Then look where the loudspeakers are connected.

In the ASSIGN make Main-out assign to that output and route music there.

Everything is working perfectly now, both the speakers and the headphones. Everything was fixed by simply applying the correct settings from TotalMix FX above. Thank you again and have a great week!
