Topic: ADI-2 Pro [FS R BE] and UFX+ both connected in USB on the same PC

Hello,

I have a Fresco Logic PCI-Express card with 4 USB3.0 extension ports, and I've connected both my UFX+ and my ADI-2 Pro [FS R BE] on it.

Is it the best way to connect them ?
Should I plug only one of these devices on the PCI-E card ? (and the other one on one of the built-in USB3.0 controller/bus of the motherboard?)

Page 74 of the ADI-2 Pro FS User's Guide (v3.7) mention that each USB2.0 hub/interface has 2 separate bus controllers and therefore could manage 2 devices flowly. Is it the same with USB3.0 ?

Thanks in advance,
Laurent

Manual page 74, excerpt:

“Furthermore this information can be used to operate an external USB drive without disturbing the ADI-2 Pro, by simply connecting the drive to the other controller. The information is also valid for USB 3 ports.

Note that USB 3 controllers do not come in a double-pack as the older USB 2 ones. As is easy to see in Device Manager as described in that chapter.

Yes, it was added in the latest version of the User Guide (v3.8)
My paper version is the v3.7

Oooh, good to know.
This suggests that both my UFX+ and ADI-2 Pro FS should be plugged on 2 distinct PCI-E/USB3 cards.
I do not struggle any issue with a single card currently, but I would like to avoid any kind of issues with huge channels count in the future.

Thanks for all,

You could create an artificial project with huge channel count to check settings.

That‘s what I do when setting up a new computer, card, etc.

And this suggests that you do not know that USB 2 and USB 3 are independent and separated busses.  You cannot connect a USB2 device to USB3 - it will always be on USB2. 2 cards - not needed.
