Topic: [Solved] Totalmix can't avoid sending signal to submix 1/2

Hello,

I am controlling total mix with my faderfox midi controller and a UFX+ in a surround setup. I want to control the level sent to a specific hardware output without sending it to the output 1/2.

Every time I move my midi controller, even when I am selecting the right submix, the microphone is also sent to output 1/2.
I also tried with the "trim" button" checking that nothing was being sent to 1/2.

Please let me know if I am missing something or this is the default.

Is there a direct way of controlling the matrix with midi or osc to avoid this problem and to be able to do surround mixing?

It would help if you could describe more detailed how you have setup your midi connection in tm.

Without this, i can just guess:

Do you use mackie protocol? Or standard midi?

So you control the corresponding fader of your mic input via midi and switch the submixes via midi, too, before moving the mic fader again?

Submix linked to midi controller is checked in options?

Maybe you have enabled the mirroring between the out1/2 submix and the “specific hw out” submix, you want to control the mics input separately? (Both out subs appear grey highlighted then)

Maybe you can post link here to a screenshot of your tm while connected to your controller?

In general, it is possible, if I understand correctly what your goal is.

Re: [Solved] Totalmix can't avoid sending signal to submix 1/2

Thanks for your message.

So I wanted to send mic 1, only to output 3/4 but the control was being sent to submix 1/2 and 3/4 even if I selected submix 3/4.  I was at a venue and didn't have much time to solve the problem so I found an alternative.
I am replicating the problem now at home with my UCX.  For info, I am using a normal midi controller sending CC102, I use it all the time.

In the video I am doing the same thing with my UFX, then with the UCX. On the UCX it works at it should, on the UFX, the signal is being sent to 1/2 all the time.

Here I uploaded a video of the problem I have.

I would appreciate if I could have some tip or help.

Sorry, now the video it's public

So I still cannot solve this problem, it would be nice if someone could give some insight....

What I would do : Total Reset
Totalmix menu Options / Reset Mix / Total Reset
Then do the routing correct, only the routing what is need.

thanks, so I did the Total Reset and it's still happening: When I move mic1 in submix 3/4, the level is also sent to submix 1/2...

Re: [Solved] Totalmix can't avoid sending signal to submix 1/2

Its a MIDI misconfiguration. 100% sure.

Your video does not show the important midi stuff - MIDI configuration.

Do you use mackie protocol? Or standard midi?

not answered... anyhow:
- I bet you have set up 2 MIDI controllers in TM with the same MIDI Ports pointing to your (unique) faderbox.
- While controller 1 has Mackie Protocol enabled and controller 2 not.

-----

Submix linked to midi controller is checked in options?

Not answered... anyhow, the video shows it between second 15 and 20:

- The Mackie enabled controller
-> Submix linked to midi controller is NOT checked in your case.

- The second one (Mackie "NOT" enabled controller):
-> Submix linked to midi controller IS checked in your case.

And you control the Input Fader for Channel1 via MIDI (Channel 1, CC 102)...
=> 2 Controllers with different protocols, different Submix link settings, but with same MIDI source exactly behave like that.

Additionally it seems, you have set the other unit similar and to the same controller, too.

Thanks a lot Maggie33.
You are right, it was just a user error. I had my midi controller two times activated in the UFX+ and only one for the UCX, that explained everything.
