Topic: Another question about options for rack mounting ADI-2 DAC fs

Hello!

My first post on this forum. Happy owner of the ADI 2 DAC in my studio. As the titles says. My new Buso desk has a slanted rack for gear installation, and I want to fit my adi into that.

I know this question (rack mounting ADI 2 DAC fs) has been asked and answered several times before. However, I would like to know if someone can confirm the following:

If I was to unscrew the feet on the adi 2 dac fs, the dimensions of the screw holes at the bottom of the unit will not align/fit on to the holes on this shelf from RME?:

Has anyone tried it?

If it is a no go, the only solution is diy.

I have several non-RME shelves like the one in the link lying around. The question remains if the screw holes used for attachment of the feet on the adi dac are solid/deep enough to keep it locked sturdily onto such a rack shelf - provided that the holes drilled on the shelf itself align perfectly to those on the adi dac.
Would be nice if the feet screw holes can be used for this, as I am not attempting to drill new holes on the dac itself.

You can use the feet holes, no problem.

Just make sure the screws used don‘t protrude deeper than a few Millimeters into ADI-2‘s housing.
Count the turns when screwing in from the point where the screw grips into ADI-2’s thread.
I’d stop at 5 turns, which is about 3.5 mm.

With a typical 1 mm rack’s metal sheet, metric screws of M4 x 6mm (total with flat head) or M4 x 5mm (total with countersunk head) should fit.

Many thanks for the response Kai! I will follow your advise here on the mounting.
