FWIW finally and completely given up on RME. Selling all my RME gear as I write and won't be getting any more. Reason? Continued refusal to support Linux. Not a credible strategy (IMHO) if what you're claiming to do is engineering. On the other hand, I can see it might make sense if all you're trying to do is maximise profit.

Best, Ian.

I can only speak for my country.
If a company does not make profit, after a time, the authorities will delete that company out of the registrations and the owners lose all benefits of having a company.

RME surely has a lot of employees to pay and the distribution of the manpower to useful projects is to do with care.

The question is, do you want to make music or do you want to spend your time on Linux.

Well, generally it is what manager is obliged to do by law. It is not written so directly, but manager is obliged to do all for good of company. And generally long run profitability is the measure of it.

So, if managers do not see profitability of supporting Linux even in long run, they cannot support it. Owners could sue them for their loss by that decision.... They could even go to jail.

So, you can hardly blame them....

The OP just wants to troll, obviously. A handful of posts, the last of which was made four years ago.

And RME is not a charity, indeed (actually, most open source software is sold commercially or at least funded commercially nowadays, so the OP is also a hypocrite).

I don't think that OP is trolling. He's just putting his money where he sees most fit, according to his values, habits, and objectives.
It's perfectly reasonable to push a company, especially like RME, who adopted an open standard like AVB/Milan and whose cards work well in class compliant mode, and that even has a Linux section in their user forum, to push for Linux support.

They could start by contibuting to https://github.com/michaelforney/oscmix or releasing TotalMix / Digicheck for Linux.

Maybe they could apply to the Sovereign Tech Fund in Germany to fund the development? https://www.sovereign.tech
I would personally donate if they announced a development fund campaign.

I believe a practical and impactful first step could be for RME to contribute to oscmix. Supporting a project like oscmix would likely be incredibly easy and inexpensive for RME, yet it would mean a great deal to the Linux audio community.

I sincerely hope that RME’s leadership will consider this seriously and take the opportunity to step forward as a true industry leader in this area as well. You've already set a high bar in many ways — this could be a powerful continuation of that vision.
