Topic: madifaceusb_64.exe: Program Files; madifaceusb.exe: Windows\System

I noticed that 2 versions of madifaceusb are installed in Windows 10 Pro (x64).

1. C:\Program Files\RME\MADIface\madifaceusb_64.exe (size 187 KB)

2. C:\Windows\System32\madifaceusb.exe (size: 484 KB)

Task Manager, under Startup, shows that (2) is "Enabled", but Startup impact "Not measured"
Task Manager, under Startup, shows that (1) is"Enabled", and Startup impact "Low"

In Task Manager, under Processes, is shown only (1): madifaceusb_64.exe

Question: can I disable in Task Manager, under Startup (2) i.e. the madifaceusb.exe (non-64 bit version) ?

Please advise.

Kind regards,

Remnant of an older driver. Doesn't do any harm, but you can disable it if you like.

Hi Daniel;

Do you mean that C:\Windows\System32\madifaceusb.exe (size: 484 KB) can be disabled, without a problem? Just want to make sure, that I will be disabling the right one.

Re: madifaceusb_64.exe: Program Files; madifaceusb.exe: Windows\System

From the readme file in the latest MADIface driver v1.02 package, I conclude that the driver is now x64 based only. It installs the madifaceusb_x64.exe file now in the following path:

C:\Program Files\RME\MADIface\madifaceusb_64.exe

Before driver v1.02, the 32-bit madifaceusb.exe file was installed in the following path:
C:\Windows\System32\madifaceusb.exe

So, the latter can be disabled.
