Topic: Connect a turntable directly to the RME babyface pro

Hi, I would like to use my RME Babyface Pro to record vinyl.
Is it possible to connect directly my turntable to one of the inputs (and which one), without having to use an intermediate preamp ?

With the right cable or adapter you can connect to the XLR inputs and use some gain of the mic preamps.

But the result will not be what you want.
Vinyl preamps have more insida as only preamping. There is some filter and EQ going on too.
you may have to manipulate the recording with plugins.

I would use a Vinyl-Preamp.

Thanks waedi for your answer.
I will try but I understand that the quality could not be good.
If I use some EQ filters on my DAW (ProTools), wouldn't it be better ?

I'm not expert in vinyl digitalizing but I would say yes, use the right plugins in the DAW after the recording and render to finish.

The problem is the output from the cartridge is really small so you need a preamp to bring it up. To do it right you really need a phono preamp which does that and applies the correct curve. I dare say you can do it and get a plugin  with the RIAA curve

You need a phono preamp into the Line inputs on the Babyface.  They're quite cheap.
