Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

hi , the follow can make u easy to understand the setting :

Sequoia 15.1 to 15.3 with my old Mac book pro M2 Max or other old Mac book intel 3.7 GHs Quad - Core , both work perfectly with Fireface 400 Version 3.41 .

BUT NOT Sequoia 15.1 to 15.3 with my new Mac book pro M4 Max

those test told me new Sequoia 15.1 to 15.3 is not the problem , the new Mac book pro M4 Max is the problem connection with Fireface 400 Version 3.41 software

thx for helping

Is the Fireface powered on but showing red host light? What is your start up sequence? Did you already try this: first start the Mac with the Fireface still switched off and wait until the Mac is fully booted. Only then switch on the Fireface. It will show the read light first for a moment and then should revert to green.

Has anyone tried the new Mac OS 15.3 in relation to compatibility with the RME drivers (last 2021 approx.) for a fireface 400?

Many thanks

Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

Still unclear as to whether a new M4 mac mini will run compatible drivers for OS 15.3 Sequoia for a fireface 400

Worried about the upgrade - there’s no going back you know!

"as u see" tells nothing here. Just that the FireWire Adapter is connected. Fireface 400 should appear in the FireWire pane of system information.

There is no logical reason, why it should not work because:
- kexts are still supported with Macos 15.3
- the Adapters are still supported, even on M4 Max Macs

So, @hil: Either the driver might not be installed correctly, or the unit is not recognized (for whatever reason, see above), at all.

There is always a way going back, if you make a suitable backup before upgrading.

If you're that worried, then why not look into installing a temporary copy of macOS on an external USB drive?
Alternatively stay on Sonoma.

Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

Has anyone upgraded to to the latest Mac OS 15.4?

I've had several pop ups saying that the old drivers for the Fireface 400 won't work with the update.
Has anyone upgraded here?

Many thanks

Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

Fireface 800 still working fine here and elsewhere with Sequoia (15.4.1 at the moment): https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=40187

The pop up appears from time to time and refers to some future update. That doesn't mean it is this or one of the next updates. Could be MacOS 16, though. Nobody knows for now.

Thanks for this - will get a Time Machine back up just to make sure.

Appreciate the info

Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

PS Does the Fireface 400 & 800 use the same drivers?

Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

I`ve updated my mac mini M4 to mac osx Sequoia 15.5.
and my RME Fireface 400 is still working fine!

Re: Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility?

15.5 here on a Mac Mini M1. Seems to be working just as it did before I upgraded.

Fireface 400 & macOS Sequoia Driver Compatibility

Greetings from me guys. I have just purchase a Macbook Pro M4 and the 2 adapters, in order for the fireface to be operative. I have reduced the security protocol but the fireface remains unrecogniseable. The latest  rme driver goes back to 2019 as far as i ve seen. What can i do, besides downgrading OS?

You need driver 3.41 which is the latest driver from 2021.
