Topic: RME USB DriverKit Detected

I think I need to uninstall the Driver Kit. I tried to install USB 335 from 333 and I am getting a message.
It reads:
RME USB Driver Kit extension detected
Please re-run Installer Package FireFaceUSB 335.
My audio seems to work though so not sure why this message is happening?

so not sure why this message is happening?

The message shows it clearly...

Read the rtf files after extracting the zip.

2. DriverKit Driver De-Installation

Kernel extension driver 3.35 offers a simplified installation process and a removal of a previously installed RME DriverKit driver. If an RME DriverKit driver is found, a window for entering the password appears during the installation process.

At the end of the installation, the computer must be restarted - see the automatically appearing message window.

If the DriverKit extension has not been completely removed, a message window appears on restart with instructions on how to manually remove the extension de.rme-audio.dkusb.

Hi, I don't get / never got this message to remove the extension or how to do it.

Can you point me in the right direction on how to do this please?

Re: RME USB DriverKit Detected

I want to keep the kernel and delete the Driver Kit, this method is the opposite.
I can't find the instructions to remove the Driver Kit.
What would you suggest?
Thanks

I don't think I'm having many issues, just now and again I get keys triggering on my Mac keyboard.
I thought it was a MIDI loop from my controller but maybe not?

I know. Ok, maybe I was quite unclear.

1) Follow  step 1 ...to...  step 7

2) Either omit step 8 (if it works now), or reinstall your kext.
For this, just replace "(current v4.21) dk" with "(current v335 ) kext"

I hope it's clearer now what exactly I meant?

Re: RME USB DriverKit Detected

Thanks for your time.

I can't do Step 1 because the extension isn't there but I still get the message. I have installed the 335 driver again and made sure permissions are still allowed.
Will it work if I just start from Step 2?
Is the extension de.rme-audio.dkusb. in this application?

Re: RME USB DriverKit Detected

The dk driver is still there and I don't have permission to delete it??
Do I need to disable SIP to get rid of it?
I can't remember having to go through all this to install it.
The extension doesn't show in system settings??

Re: RME USB DriverKit Detected

The driver is still there when I check in Step 7

7) Before going to step 8) Verify that there is no dk driver anymore in /Library/SystemExtensions
(not like before):

I do not have permission to delete the driver. Is there a reason why I can't remove the component?

Re: RME USB DriverKit Detected

Wich macOS version are we talking about?
Did you do step2?

Although many things are unclear, what you do...
You need root/admin privileges to do this...
However, it should work via terminal in recovery mode

Re: RME USB DriverKit Detected

I'm just attempting this again, it seems a very technical process.
I have uninstalled the USB Settings and TotalMix.

I was thinking of just installing the Driver Kit again over the other one and not using the kernel.

Would this work?

I'm not sure why the .dext file isn't deleting in the normal 'easy' way.

Do you know if keeping the .dext file and using the kernel file at the same time will cause any system 'damage' in the long run?

Thanks for your help
