Topic: [Solved] Fireface 800 Standalone - Noise from ADAT inputs

I´m having problems using my FF800 in standalone mode - whenever the PC isn´t running, i get a loud crackling noise from my headphone out.

Once i set the levels to -infinity in Totalmix, store current state into device and restart the FF800 (without PC), the noise is gone but i can only use the 10 analog inputs.

Is there a way to use the ADAT inputs in standalone mode?

I tried syncing via ADAT and WordClock with no success.

Totalmix is on v1.97 (2), FF on driver version 3.125

Here´s a screenshot of my routing:

Crackling noise on phones is a hardware/firmware issue of specific FF800 that need a small hardware modification. AFAIR it is described in at least one post in here.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Is it a hardware issue even when headphones work flawlessly while the PC is running or the ADAT's level is turned off? Would i be able to make this hardware mod myself?

It's best to send the unit in through the local distributor.

Hi Daniel, am i wrong in thinking it shouldn`t be a hardware problem if the headphone jack works fine when not in standalone mode?
Also it works without problems when i only use the FFs analog inputs - the problem only occurs when i use the ADAT inputs in standalone mode. Again, no problem with the ADAT inputs when the FF is connected to the host PC.

Is there a problem with my routing?

Perhaps you didn't flash the sync settings in the Fireface Settings Dialog? No issues with the line outputs in standalone?

Can't say anything about the line outs unfortunately, as I'm only using the headphone jack right now - lost a big part of the studio recently.

How do I flash the sync settings? Is it different to the "store current state into device" dialogue?

Nevermind, found it in the manual, sorry about that. Will try and test it after work today. Thanks for the Tip!

Ok, that seems to have solved the problem. Everything works as expected after flashing the sync settings. Thanks a lot for the help, have a nice weekend! cool
