Topic: 12 mic got stuck after firmware update

I updated 4 12mics to the newest firmware, three are fine, one of them got stuck during the power cycle that is required after the successful install of the firmware, showing RME 12mic and the Milan logo. I cannot access it on PC or Mac, not over IP or USB. Any ideas what to do? Thank you Felix

I would try repeat the flashing

M1-Tahoe, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Felix, this does seem similar to my problem (https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=41918). (I got your message but replying didn't work.) For mine, there was no immediate solution. Joost from RME suggested that it was a hardware problem. I sent it for repair but thanks to Brexit it got stuck in Belgian customs and I don't know if it will ever be fixed or if I will see it again. Unfortunatelly, I cannot access the 12Mic, so I cannot repeat the firmware update...

Do you recall the firmware version that was previously flashed or if the device had ever been successfully updated before?
Please contact support directly with that information and the serial number of the device.

@johnc yours was a 12Mic-D (not a 12Mic), that is a different software and hardware platform and likely not a related issue, although the symptoms are the same.

It would have been nice to know how the problem was solved. That's the only way a post in a forum makes sense. Or did I miss something.

Hi Carl,

Felix and I have met in person, and I basically reflashed the device using the tools used at our manufacturer to initially program the device after assembly.
This enabled me to get a dump that I'm currently analyzing. So far it looks like it was a rare "bitflip" like situation during the firmware update. Knowing this, we will take measures to make firmware updates more robust and also improve device recovery options for the end user.
