Topic: UFX III <-> 12Mic D - Madi input status clock 'wrong'

Hello,

the setup is simple: those 2 units are connected bi-directional with optical fiber. Clock is 96kHz.

No matter who is the clock master, the UFXIII control panel will always show 48kHz in the Madi Input Status Panel.

The 12Mic always shows the correct incoming clock of 96khz if slave.

The UFX III locks on the incoming clock, and shows 96kHz in the clock options window, if slave.

We tried all possible configurations, and also used the coax in/out to test if the fiber causes problems, but the status will always stay at 48kHz / 48frames / 64 channels.

Any hint very appreciated.

Thanks,
Georg

In short, unless the 96k frame is activated, a 96 kHz signal is indeed sent via 48 kHz MADI frames - by placing two consecutive samples in two consecutive channels. The receiver must then be manually configured to 96 kHz to understand the format.

You can switch on the 96k frame as described in the manual and then the receiver can detect the sampling rate automatically and correctly.
