Topic: M-1620 Pro D question

I want to buy a 1620 to connect MADI to DANTE and DANTE to madi, these channels being available in my TotalMixFX as madi In/out channels in my DAW.
To explain, I’ve got a SSL Nucleus 2 (dante) which I want to connect to the 1620 via Dante Controller so that it’s output goed from Nucleus Out (Dante) via 1620 to MADI IN (MadiFX Totalmix) and vice versa.
Will this work?

Re: M-1620 Pro D question

Yes, this will work. You have all the routing possibillities in the Web remote of the 1620-D and on the device.

Re: M-1620 Pro D question

With the unit underway, which madi module do I need to order, in order to connect via optical to my madiFX?

Also, can I also daisychain via coax to my m-32 Pro, 48 channel to and from madi one on the madiFX?

Get the multimode SFP from RME, then you have no issues with possibly wrong wave length.
On the HDSPe MADI FX you do not need an SFP, it has the transceiver built-in.
But you need a proper OM4 (or OM3) multimode duplex cable with LC/SC plugs to connect  HDSPe MADI FX and M-1620 Pro D.

I wouldn't daisychain if you have enough madi buses. Every additional device in a chain adds 3 samples or latency for the forwarding of samples to the next device in a serial chain.

You can connect the M-32 Pro optical, I would to this on the next free optical bus.
With optical connections you have also galvanic isolation, so why BNC?

Then you would need a 2nd SFP from RME for the M-32 Pro and a 2nd OM4 multimode duplex cable SC/LC.

This adapter cable (2 meter)  is included in the RME SFP mudule package, with an extender SC/SC adapter. So you can extend with SC optical cable.
