Topic: RME MULTIFACE HAMERFALL DSP to new MAC M4

Hello,

I have RME HAMERFALL DSP MULTIFACE and would like to connect to new MAC AIR with M4 proc.. I have old PCI V1.3 card.
i can not find any adapter that would go from PCI to USB...how i can connect this very good card which i used on my old PC for years and i would not change it?
thanks. BR, Seba

Re: RME MULTIFACE HAMERFALL DSP to new MAC M4

The new Macs have Thunderbolt ports USB-C

Look out for external box PCI to thunderbolt

You could probably get a Thunderbolt to PCIe enclosure and use a PCIe to PCI adapter.

The market has lots of devices for PCIe but nothing for PCI, this seems outdated.

You may keep an eye on the used market for a used RME UCX ll

Why would you? It cannot exist.

Look for PCI/Thunderbolt bridge, or for a less elegant solution akin to this (https://www.mattmillman.com/those-thund … st-but-do/). But at this point I would be questioning the feasibility of such a feat, also concerning about software support.

Aka driver support. There is none for old PCI cards on a M4.

The expresscard adapter is the only thing I know, I think the Cardbus PCMCIA card is outdated and driver not available for M-Macs.

best solution buy UCX ll

it was a good working piece

Even with an adapter, there are no suitable drivers, sorry. You'd need the actual Expresscard.

Unfortunately no, I never seen one.
Only for the express card, there are adapter housing available

This is the express card :
