Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Hi Gang:

It would appear that the loopback on at least channels 1-2 is not working.

When in Zoom, changing the level of the outputs 1/2 have no affect.

Perhaps someone could varify whether or not this is indeed the case?

Thanks all over the place gang.

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Beta 12 is now available for download and adresses lots of feedback in this (and the Mac) thread:

- Improved graphics compatibility: now works with Parallels (error 102)

- Improved error description: graphics compatibility might not fail due to DirectX 12, but Direct3D 12. Specific error message added.

- Various small graphics improvements

- Added Fullscreen on/off via F11

- Added Ctrl-Z for Undo and Ctrl-Y for Redo

- Fixed ARC USB DURec Play Previous/Next commands were swapped

- Open/close state of Recorder panel is now saved

- Split position in 2 Row mode is now restored

- RoomEQ: after changes on a loaded Preset the name starts flashing

- Pan in C state: double-click opens a dialog to change the numerical value

- Now compatible to ARM (Snapdragon)

- DURec: changes to the Record/Play settings do not cause flashing of the Snapshot button. This is a temporary fix, there will be a save option later for these.

- Options Ctrl-X and Ctrl-M have been added to the Functions menu (to pull them from the shadows. They are not new).

Vertical and horizontal scrolling reworked:

- Horizontal and vertical scrolling has been improved a lot in speed and acceleration

- Horizontal scrolling of rows can be done directly with mice that have a dedicated vertical scrollwheel or a multi-axis single scrollwheel. Also the two finger gesture on a touchpad will work directly for horizontal scrolling.

- Vertical scrolling of all rows (window content) is done via Ctrl-Shift-mousewheel, or Ctrl-Shift 2-finger gesture on touchpad. Note: The 2 finger gesture alone is already used to move faders, so this feature needs the modifiers.

What you want requires extremely complicated and extensive 'change surveillance' routines, that are not possible for this current release. They might be added at a later time. The current  (limited) way of working is the best compromise we can offer to have this feature right now.

In beta 12 we improved the 'compromise' a bit by showing an edited state of the REQ preset (by flashing), so the base of the current settings is still revealed.

Awesome! This is enough for me, mainly wanted to not lose the last applied name upon any edit. Works great now, thanks!
Any chance to also implement something similar for the 3 band EQs? Maybe not blinking as that could be distracting, since the 3 band eq is directly on the main TMFX view.

Hello,

here to report a little graphic bug :
When you use the "gain" button in the dynamics section, it draws a red line on the right of the graphic visualisation, which can be removed only by closing the section, and it mays need many retries to clear it.

Thanks for the software !

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Hi,

I've noticed that Snapshot logic causes volume spikes.

Environment:
- Windows 11
- UCX II (drv 1.276, SW 36)
- TotalMix FX 2.0 beta 12

Issue:
- Snapshot function applies gain‑increasing parameters (fader, EQ, dynamics, input sensitivity) before gain‑reducing ones.
- Results in brief but extreme volume spikes at full gain in certain scenarios.

Steps to Reproduce (as shown in the attached YouTube video):

  1. In Preferences [Snapshots and Workspaces] → [Do not load] = [--].

  2. Feed a test signal (square wave recommended, as it most clearly exposes the issue) to Software Playback Analog 1/2.

  3. Set Snap 1 and Snap 2 (identical except for fader levels: one set to 0 dB, the other to e.g. –50 dB on Software Playback Analog 1/2 and the Main output, and vice versa for the second snapshot).

  4. Switch between snapshots.

  5. Observe momentary overload and audible volume spikes.

Evidence:
- Video: https://youtu.be/UQfkpOr1JAo

Expected Behavior:
- Gain‑reducing parameters should be applied first, followed by gain‑increasing ones.

Thanks

I've noticed a weird behavior on the newest beta 12 - not sure the exact cause yet but it happened twice so far, sometimes when I boot up the PC i get no sound through the USB in to the UCXII, the USB icon on the interface is lit up. Also when this occurs the tmfx 2.0 no longer opens, when i run the exe, I see the icon show up in the taskbar and then quickly disappear, then the process dies (no error popup). To fix this, I have to open the old 1.99 TMFX, the sound comes back (I'm not touching any sliders), I close it and then open TMFX2.0, it starts working again as well.

Kind of same thing happend to me few days ago, but I am still on beta 11. I was watching some movie in vlc player, and all of the sudden no sound on pc at all. I restart PC and everything was ok after that. It happend only twice now in week or so, so I couldn't figure out what was the cause.

From your crashlog it seems to be a problem in amdxc64.dll, which is library/driver for AMD GPU. It might be caused by TM (some kind of wrongly defined request call to GPU), or by other things....

Maybe TM calls it too soon at computer startup and GPU is not yet fully prepared, or whatever.... Maybe reinstalling GPU drivers would help.

And if that happened and you have tried to run TM 2 again, have you terminated running TM in Process Manager (or what is the English name for....), the tab Processes (rightclick on item in list and choose Terminate ). Otherwise, if it runs (even invisible) one cannot run another instance of TM to replace it...

Yes, I'm aware, this is likely related to the TMFX 2.0 direct3d 12 implementation clashing in some way with AMD drivers.

As I said in my comment, the process dies. There's no TMFX exe visible in task manager. When I try to run it myself, I see it pop up for a moment and the process dies again unless I go and fix it by running tmfx 1.99 first, closing it completely and running 2.0 again.

It doesn't happen on every boot up, yesterday it happened for the 3rd time, today it hasn't, I usually keep my PC on for the whole day.

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Hi,

Bug Report: Fader Group Behavior in TotalMix FX Beta 12

Description: When switching between snapshots that involve stereo-to-mono channel changes, Fader Groups incorrectly expand to include unintended channels.

Steps to Reproduce (YT video https://youtu.be/rHafu_KL6lA):

  1. Save Snapshot 1 with channels 1 and 2 configured as Stereo.

  2. Modify configuration: switch channel 2 from Stereo to Mono.

  3. Create Fader Group 1 linking faders of channel 1 and channel 2.

  4. Save Snapshot 2 with this configuration.

  5. Switch back to Snapshot 1, then again to Snapshot 2.

  6. Observe that Fader Group 1 now links three faders (channel 1 stereo, channel 2 mono, channel 3 mono) instead of the expected two faders (channel 1 stereo, channel 2 mono).

Expected Behavior: Fader Group 1 should consistently link only the two defined faders (channel 1 stereo and channel 2 mono) across snapshots.

Actual Behavior: After switching snapshots, Fader Group 1 incorrectly includes an additional fader (channel 3 mono).

Impact: This behavior causes unintended grouping and control inconsistencies, making snapshot recall unreliable in configurations involving stereo-to-mono changes.

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

I really like the updated look and that it can be resized and zoomed.

But I'm really having issues with the overall extremely low contrast even on high contrast.

High contrast should not only slightly dim the background compared to dark. It should also increase the text brightness.

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Hi,

Bug Report: TotalMix FX 2.0 beta 12 – crash on startup with specific screen resolution parameters in config file.

Issue Description: The TotalMix crashes immediately upon startup when specific configuration values are present in the file last.FirefaceUCXII1.xml. This file is generated automatically by the application during a previous normal shutdown.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Completely exit the application (not just close the window) so that it generates last.FirefaceUCXII1.xml.

  • Ensure the configuration file contains the following values:

<Frame0>
    <Window>
        <val e="WinPos.left" v="0"/>
        <val e="WinPos.top" v="0"/>
        <val e="WinPos.right" v="2560"/>
        <val e="WinPos.bottom" v="1600"/>
        <val e="ScaleType" v="2"/>
        <val e="IsMaximized" v="0"/>
        <val e="IsFullScreen" v="1"/>
        <val e="FuncType" v="0"/>
    </Window>
</Frame0>
  • Launch the application.

  • The program hangs and then closes immediately.

Condition Triggering the Bug:

((WinPos.right - WinPos.left == 2560) &&
        (WinPos.bottom - WinPos.top == 1600) &&
        (IsFullScreen == 1))

If either the window width or height values differ from 2560 or 1600, the application does not crash.

d3bil0x wrote:

Hi,

I think this is the issue. I had the problem happen today again and for me it's directly tied to whether I have TotalMixFX in fullscreen mode when I shutdown the PC.

I looked up the window settings in the last.FirefaceUCXII1.xml when TMFX was unable to open and this is how it looked like.
https://i.ibb.co/fYT27QKr/image.png

After changing the fullscreen variable to 0 and retrying to launch it worked. Then I set TMFX up like I always have, on my 3rd monitor in fullscreen, then closed TMFX through tray. This is how it looked after reopening the xml:
https://i.ibb.co/DHP3dJrG/image.png

What I think might be happening is a monitor layout mismatch vs the last.xxx.xml config, my pc has 3 screens and i cycle between two display output configs, outputting to my main screen + totalmix screen for the first half of the day and 3 screens total for the rest of the day. Not sure where the issue occurs exactly though as I don't change the layout of the screens when totalmixfx isn't running. Might be related to when totalmix actually updates that xml file?

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Beta 13 is now available, see link in first post.

List of changes:

- Fixed full screen bug as reported in this thread

- New option 'Reduce volume peaks on Snapshot load' to better handle exterme gain/volume changes between Snapshots, preventing short loud noise bursts. This new feature is ON by default, but can be disabled in Options/Preferences.

- New option 'Load Groups with Snapshot', aka Fader, Mute and Solo groups. This option allows a more flexible control as the groups are no longer bound to Workspaces alone.

- New option 'Record/Play with Snapshot'. This option allows a more flexible control as Record/Play settings are no longer bound to Workspaces alone.

- Several small improvements

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Hi,

Cosmetic issue (in beta 13):

When right‑clicking on a Channel in the Hardware Inputs and selecting Change Channel Layout, the Channel Layout window does not automatically switch to the Inputs Tab. Instead, it displays the last used tab and requires an additional click on Inputs Tab if Playbacks or Outputs Tab was previously active. In comparison, for Software Playback and Hardware Outputs, the correct tab is activated automatically.

But what about changing the window decoration to match the dark mode on Windows 10 when that is enabled? It's currently bright white and it doesn't really match the new aesthetic.

The Mac OS screenshot looks much more pleasing.

Anyway, really appreciate the resizable UI and the new loudness meters. Great stuff!

Bug Report in TotalMix FX 2.0 Beta 13

Issue: GUI malfunction in Room EQ window.

Description: After opening the Room EQ window, minimizing the main TotalMix window (either via standard minimize or using Windows + D) and then restoring it, the Room EQ GUI stops visually updating when adjusting parameters. The parameter values do change internally, but the interface does not reflect them. Closing and reopening the Room EQ window restores normal visual behavior and shows all previously applied changes.

Steps to reproduce (as shown in the attached video https://youtu.be/VF1QBHxKv7s ):

  • Open Room EQ window.

  • Minimize the main TotalMix window (regular minimize or Windows + D).

  • Restore the main window.

  • Adjust any Room EQ parameter.

I'd like to also report that the RoomEQ window has something wrong with scaling, every time I open RoomEQ it spawns a window that spans over my 3 screens instead of scaling to the monitor im currently using totalmix on. Basically, it is the case that quite a few windows of the TotalMix FX program will not open in the middle of the window, but rather arbitrarily somewhere at the edges. For example, the 'Settings-window' etc. When operating with several monitors (screens), the window chaos seems to become even bigger. For example, with the Room-EQ window. I have already addressed this circumstance here in this thread. I really hope that future TotalMix FX versions will basically open the other dialogs in the middle of the window and remember the state of position.

Here comes beta 14, addressing various feedback (aka bugs and issues) from this and the other thread. Download links in first post - Check it out!

- gain labeled dB

- Room EQ windows are now cached with size and scale information

- Window sizes are now correctly adapted when changing between monitors with different DPI settings

- In Classic design REQ windows were wrongly positioned as well – fixed

- Minimizing the app the REQ windows were not minimized simultaneously – fixed for both taskbar and tray icon

- Nearly all dialogs will now be opened in the middle or above/below the respective element, reducing mouse travel

- Fixed wrong menu entries for Fireface 802

- Menu entry ‘Store current state into device’ was disabled

- Undefined title bars of windows are now set to black (menues unaffected)

- Removed several write processes during shutdown that were no longer needed

- Re-added the Load and Save buttons in the ARC Settings dialog

- Loading Snapshots with Groups (Mute, Solo, Fader) after Snapshots without Groups could cause Groups to not load

Because of this, the window has now turned black? But the menu is still in light mode, which seems a bit conflicting (my computer theme is also light mode). I think this is a good idea, but it would be better to have an option (dark/light/follow system) and keep the colors of the title bar and menus consistent.

+1 fully agree; a black title bar doesn't look good.

I also think the readability of the right side of TM FX  still needs to be improved.
For example, titles of sections like "View Options", "Snapshots", "Groups", "Layout Presets", ..
For the font, I would use a brighter "white" to give it more contrast and I would use capital letters again
at the beginning of words to increase visibility/separation of the different areas.

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

A +1 for the follow system settings mode for colour scheme. Also use of capital letters for the beginning of words

Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for Windows

Agreed, also since yesterday (and this might be because of this weeks w11 security update) I can no longer execute a shortcut from taskbar or desktop, as windows now says this is a potentieel malicious internet shortcut. The tray icon, or executing from the program files / rme folder works fine. But a shortcut from tmfx in that folder doesn’t?
