Topic: New Windows HDSPe MADI FX driver – Release candidate 2.40

Last year RME was the first pro audio manufacturer to release USB ARM drivers for Windows 11. At that time our Snapdragon notebooks did not support Thunderbolt. As it was not possible to connect PCIe cards via a Tunderbolt expansion chassis it made no sense to work on a HDSPe MADI FX (and MADIface XT, via e-PCIe) driver that supports ARM.

That has changed. Meanwhile ARM notebooks with USB4 also support TB3, like the Asus Vivobook 16 X1607QA. Unfortunately these notebooks will typically not mention Thunderbolt at all. And the small flash symbols at the USB-C socket can not be differentiated from USB power delivery indcators. So good luck finding out if the ARM notebook you're interested in properly supports external TB chassis...

Driver 2.40 comes with latest TotalMix 1.99. These are detailed infos from the driver readme:

- This driver requires Windows 10 (1709) or higher

- This driver does not support 32 bit Windows OS anymore (32 bit apps can still be used with an x64 system)

- This driver also supports Windows 11 Arm systems. Both WDM and ASIO are available. ASIO is included as 32 bit and 64 bit, both Arm64EC and Arm native.

- The installer is completely reworked and now copies current files to C:\Program Files\RME\MADI_FX

- Changing between the former and this driver on Intel systems, back and forth, should be easy and without issues

- In most cases, a restart is no longer necessary after both initial installation and update. TotalMix FX and Settings dialog are immediately available in the notification area and are also updated.

- To completely uninstall the driver start rmeinstaller.exe and choose Uninstall. Note: Uninstall via Windows Apps (Add & Remove) is no longer supported.

Works really well. I like everything in the new location and is it me or is the tray settings panel updated as well? Same lay-out but looks more modern?
