Topic: RME AVB Tool / 12 mic

Hi,

I use a Fireface UFX+ and some RME 12mics linked via optical MADI for a remote recording system. It works beautifully. The MADI fibre is 4 core, so I use 2 of them as my MADI, and the other 2 as network control for the 12 mics (via their network ports)/anything else remote control.

I've been looking at how to integrate an AVB Tool - it would be the perfect thing to be able to place in the roof space of a hall for slung/hung mics.

Rather than add it to the MADI loop (at the great expense of tough fibre reels) I was wondering about linking it to the 12mics point to point via AVB. I'm sure this will work and they will pass audio, but I don't suppose the 12mics "pass on" the network connection through the AVB ports, meaning I could remote control the AVB tool "through" the 12mic?

User manual of the AVB-Tool page 25
reveals how to do.

RME Connector app can remote control the AVB Tool

Milancontroller app does establish the AVB network

I read that, but I'm not entirely clear on whether or not it's possible.

RME Connector app can remote control the AVB Tool - fine, but do all the RME devices + the computer running RME Controller have to be connected via a switch, or can they (effectively) be daisy-chained via their network ports, passing both AVB audio AND control information?
