Topic: Any issues with the z890 mobos?

Hi,

I am speccing a new pc, and just wanted to ask if there are any known issues between the Z890 mobos and RME soundcards, particularly my own HDSPe AIO with one AO4S-192 AIO expansion board.

I am planning for the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K cpu with a ASRock Z890 LiveMixer mobo.

Best,

Magnus

Re: Any issues with the z890 mobos?

Hi Magnus - did you end up having any issues with your installation?

I've got a new PC sitting here with an Asus Proart Z890 and Intel Core Ultra 285k. I am using an HDSPe MADI FX with mu current Win10 PC.

The mobo only has 3 PCIe sockets, the GPU takes one and hides the 2nd one, so just the 3rd available, and the RME is not being recognised either by the BIOS (I expected it to say there was something plugged in to the socket), nor W11 device manager.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hi Mark,

Everything went fine, thank you. I am sorry to hear about your issue. I hope you can sort it.

All the best,

Magnus

Re: Any issues with the z890 mobos?

Thank Magnus,

Yes, it appears that using the 5th m.2 socket on the MOBO renders the 3rd PCIe socket useless.... and with a large GPU (5090), if you use it in the 1st PCIe socket you only have access to the 3rd for any other kind of hardware.

I think sticking the HDSPe into the 1st socket, and the GPU into the 2nd will work but at 8x rather than 16x and since I'm using the GPU for audio work such as SpectraLayers, I want to run it at 16x.
