Topic: TM phase button does not work on 12Mic

Hey all. First post here but I've been on the forum since late last year when I got a UFXiii, 12Mic and Babyface Pro FS. You've all been a vast wealth of knowledge, but I haven't been able to find a solution to one thing.

I have TotalMix successfully controlling my 12Mic over MADI, all except the polarity/phase. Gain, TRS/XLR, 48V, Autoset all work fine, but the "Phase" button in TM does not flip the polarity on the 12Mic. I have had the RMERemote open at the same time as TM and can see all other parameters changing in real time when adjusting them in either TM or the remote, alas, no such luck with Phase/Polarity.

I am on the TM 2.0 RC, but I'm fairly certain it also did not work on 1.99.

Does anyone else have this working?

Hi brodysimpsondrums and welcome to the RME userforum.

I can confirm, that this is also the case in my setup.
I am also remote controlling the 12Mic via Auxdevice using TM FX 1.99.
So the issue is present in TM FX 1.99 and 2.x.

How I tested: I used Mic input 6 for the test, selected it at the 12Mic so that I could see the status in the display.

When clicking to Autoset in TM FX, then I can see in the display of the 12Mic that the status changes.
But this doesn't work for Phase.

HDSPe MADI FX, Driver version: 2.40
12Mic firmware version: 2.0.1 (v176)
TM FX Version 1.99

The Phase button in Totalmix does flip the phase in the monitoring not the input signal.
If it also would flip the input signal, it would flip twice, not working for monitoring.
Connector app is what you have to use for total-control of the 12Mic.

Good point, but then there is no need for remote controlling phase, as this is sufficient if your monitoring is up and running.

Indeed this is an error in the manuals. It mentions Phase - this will be removed from the Aux devices text.

True.
And I would say there is no need for phase inverter at all at the input stage - today with digital DAW,
for me phase control is part of the mixing not of the recording.

EDITED:

If you record an amp with two mics, then it is useful to check whether the two mics are in phase.
This check can be performed under normal operation in TotalMix FX.
But it could also be useful in stand-alone operation if you have phones connected to the 12Mic.
