Topic: Default volume increments

Is there any way to change the default volume increments from 0.5 dB? For my needs, 1 or even 2 dB would be better.

Re: Default volume increments

Nice idea, but what's your use case? With one turn I can change the volume by ~30 and with two quick turns by up to ~60.
I never felt limited by that.
The setup front key I mapped to "mute all" if I need to mute quickly.

My MLP is over 15 feet from it, and it is half hidden behind my left speaker, it doesn't always catch the remote signal. 1 or 2 dB would make it easier to tell if it worked or not.

I know it's kind of a silly reason, it would just make things easier for me. My ears hurt when listening to anything over about 70 dBc... sad  so I try to keep a tight control on it.

Re: Default volume increments

I would be worried, if people with powerful active monitors can turn the volume to full with one turn.

Or if somebody
- Who is used to +/- 0.5 operates a device with +/- 2
- accidently loads a preset with +/- 2 and it becomes unexpectedly very loud

All of this could be a "nice surprise".

Re: Default volume increments

At the beginning of this thread I thought he is talking about the ADI-2 remote app.
It can be a bit annoying when using a laptop with a small mousepad to rotate the volume knob.
May be a increment setting via the remote app would be useful for the OP ?

I get your point, but there are probably other settings that if set "wrong", could give you an "oops" moment.

Maybe they could make a setting just for remote control volume increments.

Of course, you can also turn on a hob and put your hand on it, or cross the road when the light is red.
But that's not what we're talking about here. We're simply talking about volume control, which is a key feature,
something you and maybe also your family have to adjust quite often.

Do you mean MRC or ADI-2 Remote?

I don't know whether there is more interest in this, simply wait what RME decides.

My opinion is, that volume control is critical if you see what powerful amps or active monitors are around
and that the handling should be very similar without too high volume jumps.

ADI-2 Remote has options in that spirit to limit/slow down the volume change rate for safety reasons.
I think especially because mouse movement can be fast, plus acceleration as an option:

EDIT: thats my personal opinion on that topic, I am a customer like you.

Lets see what RME will do, maybe a control for this, or not.
