I know , that both units(ADI 2 Pro and Madiface XT II) have AES/EBU 9pin connector on rear panel , so thats the reason for using 2 cables RME BO-968 AES/EBU … I did’nt find any cable with 9-pin connector on both sides …
Thanks for reply …
Can I ask , why is 2 Pulse 16MXs better choice than A32Pro ? Im ok with db25 ….and I am very satisfate with my current A32Pro ….
Well, its all in the two postings, that I quoted.... again:
- Unit price
Two Ferro Pulse 16MX are less expensive compared to one A32 Pro
2x 949 € = 1898 € vs 2499 € for the A32 Pro
- Price for breakout cables or consoles
You do not need a breakout console which also costs additional money and needs additional space.
https://www.thomann.de/de/rme_dtox_16_i.htm 339 €
https://www.thomann.de/de/rme_dtox_16_o.htm 301 €
For 32 channels in and out: 340 € * 2 = 680 €
Plus additionally the connector cables for that.
As it cost money and 2 rack units per device some people prefer direct connection to the unit using TRS plugs.
Some other people prefer to connect two devices with DB-25 connectors by using such a "tascam cable"
There are also analog breakout cables available with DB-25 plugs, but I am not so fond of
such breakout cables with a lot of channels.
- Solid connections
TRS cables are fine, but XLR plugs have the advantage to lock when connected properly.
- Placement
You can place two Pulse 16 MX at different locations in a rack or in a room
Then you can keep the more expensive copper cabling shorter
Using OM4 fiber cable you are very flexible in terms of cable length. Up to 2 km between two devices
and you can chain the devices in a serial fashion.
You need to look whats your preference and what gives you most advantages.
