Hi

I posted this a couple of months ago in the TotalMix FX 2 Beta thread but I think the MADI forum might fit better:

I control an Octamic XTC via midi-over-madi setup like this: UFX+ -> M32pro DA -> M32pro AD -> XTC -> UFX+.
It often happens that Snapshots don‘t recall the gains or pad settings. Only when I manually change the gain a bit it will adjust. I can, for example, switch the pad on an XTC channel on and off every second in TMFX and it‘ll work maybe 60% of the time. I updated the m32pros to the newest firmware as control-messages where improved according to the changelog. Still not better.

Also, and I think this might be related: My UFX+ sometimes forgets all it's MIDI ports shown in TotalMix FX Settings
and only restarting the system solves it.

System:
MacStudio M4 Max
UFX+ via Thunderbolt 1.06, FW v112
Octamic XTC Software Version 26/47
M32 Pro AD and DA 3.06 v176

The disappearing MIDI ports issue, sounds like the issue with the TB MIDI driver which was fixed on 2026.02.24.

So, probably you downloaded/installed the TB 1.06 before 2026.02.24? If so, it does not contain the MIDI driver related fix. Although the version didn't change, the fix is included in the "current" v.1.06_2 (see the included rtf files in driver package) - And although it appears as 1.06 on the DL website...

Regarding your snapshots and gain/pad settings recall issue:
Sure, you use the latest TotalMix FX v2.0 RC 2_2 ?? from https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.ph … 96#p240196
Additionally a more precise description/screenie/screenrecord video which shows what you mean with "often" or "it‘ll work maybe 60% of the time" might help...

I'll check if my TB 1.06 is the one with the MIDI driver related fix. Not at the studio until after easter.

Regarding the pad setting: I can't really do a screenrecord of how my Octamic XTC reacts to the pad button.
But it's like this: say I click on "pad" in TotalMix 10 times in a row in 2 second intervals. The physical LED on my XTC will react about every second or third time, ignoring clicks the rest of the time. If a click is ignored, it will load as soon as I change the gain on the same channel. Same is true for Snapshot loading: some channels will only recall their stored gain setting when I change gain by hand up and down 1dB.

The two M-32Pro AD / DA units are not the culprit as this also happens when I only have my UFX+ and the XTC in the MADI ring.
I'll see if the TB 1.06 after 2026.02.24 changes anything as soon as I'm back.

Have you also tested this with the unit connected to USB?

Additionally, it might help to know the exact TM version you use.

I got to test it with USB today and can confirm all is well in that mode.
It's only the Thunderbolt connection that loses ctrl messages.
