Topic: Compatibility of upcoming USB.MADI?

Hi! I saw a discussion in DirectOuts facebook group where a DirectOut rep stated that the new USB.MADI-SFP interface would only work with DirectOut and RME devices. That got me thinking, will it work with the 12mic series? At first I didn’t even think about it but seeing this and having a small DM exchange with the rep got my hopes up, although he didn’t want to confirm anything.

It would make my 12mic-D an incredible interface on top being a fantastic standalone matrix.

Anyone care to chime in?

Support for the USB.MADI in 12Mic etc is possible but currently not on our agenda - too many important tasks need to be finished first, and this feature needs new firmware for all SFP-equipped devices.

So for the time being we recommend the MADIface USB, if MADI to USB is needed.

As the owner of a 12 mic-D, this would have been a very welcome addition.
I can only hope that RME finish all their other important tasks and release the firmware to make this possible.
Think they would make a lot of people very happy !

This is very interesting to me as well.

I use multiple RME interfaces in a multi-pc setup. If these USB.MADI worked with the AoX-MADI-EXT-SFP I could slot a couple in there, which would significantly simplify setup.
