Re: TotalMix FX 2.0 – first beta available for macOS (now released)
There is TM 2.0 RC4 already. Maybe it is the solution....

You mean RC2_2 right ? Or did I miss RC3 and RC4 ?
Sorry, my bad..... I thought the version numbering scheme is the same for MacOS and Win. We have RC4 on Win... While MacOS has RC2_2...
I am configuring a Totalmix fader to be controlled from an external device.
I am sending cc 104 channel 9 from my external device for moving the fader of my phones 2 in Totalmix. It is working as expected.
But if I move the fader in Totalmix, Totalmix is not sending the corresponding midi message. Indeed, it is not sending any midi message at all.
Is this the expected behaviour, or is it a bug?
CC is not sent, only received.
When Mackie protocol is enabled it is sending a lot, the fader move is pitch wheel message.
Without Mackie protocol there is nothing Midi output from faders

I alrewady have the mackie protocol enabled. It sends midi messages for some faders, but not for all faders.

Would it be possible to have a global option to enable message sending of midi CC?
It's a shame that external devices can't be synchronized with fader movements in TotalMix.

Mackie protocol is for that.

If I move the faders of the output channels of Totalmix with the Mackie protocol enabled, only the main out channel sends midi through the output port (it sends pitchbend 9). But the rest of the output faders are not sending any midi message.
Is not your case? How do you configure it?
@jordkit
This has nothing to do with TM 2.0 and its not a bug at all.

"some faders" = 8 faders plus one master fader per mackie controller.
Anyhow, you may need to understand what Mackie Protocol is and how it differs from simple MIDI Notes/CC-Messages.

Thats not true. They can.
Edit:

It might make more sense to ask for details in the thread I mentioned above. As this is a basic MIDI understanding thing.
@Jordikt
what is your interface ?
I did test offline device BabyfacePro - no fader move sent out.
UCX ll - the analog output faders send pitch wheel values
UFX+ no sending outputs

waedi, don't know what you did set and how you tested...
Offline BFPro works here flawlessly.
Check your settings again and use my screenshot as reference for your settings: https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.ph … 74#p241174
Nothing changed, BabyfacePro no fader output (aswell Digiface USB) but UCX ll yes.
But Note on command from TM nonstop

Agree, that's correct.

I know and understand the midi and mackie protocols perfectly.
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions.

Perfect... So it seems everything works now for you?
Waedi, come on…
The messages your screenshot shows are the Midi loopback detection. Described since a few years in every units manual.
Again: Check your settings.
Again again: This midi stuff here is not TM 2.0 related at all.
Believe me or not. Midi works in TM 2.0 exactly the same way as it always did.
thanks, you are right, the only thing I pointed out is the difference of BabyfacePro and UCX ll in offline mode sending fader pitch wheel values.
Quick question: Is there any way to get custom channel names to be saved across different snapshots or layouts? Whenever I have a different recording session, I have to rewrite the names of the instrument that goes into each track.

A big thanks to everyone that helped us bringing TotalMix FX 2.0 into the current state!
A quick update for some unepxected fixes and additions: version 2.01 is now available for download from our website.
