Topic: remote control rme ADI 2 DAC fs

I hope someone can help me find a decent remote control for this dac. The remote control is so so bad and I am fed up with it. Is there an alternative for the one rme sells? And one that works. The original sometimes works if you press hard on the underside or if you bend the pins on the inside which makes contact with the battery.
I hope someone knows a simple method or remote to control the dac.
Thanks

Re: remote control rme ADI 2 DAC fs

Mine works fine here ever since, and I like the layout and its dedicated buttons.

If slightly bending the battery contacts doesn’t help, there might be some dirt in play, on the contacts and the battery.
A dry wipe or with a small amount of a good, non-corrosive contact cleaner is a good measure to solve this type of problem.
Just DON’T, really DON’T spray it inside the remote.
Just a bit on the battery will transfer to the contacts too.

Suggested: Teslanol T6

Alternatively Logitech Harmony is said to have the ADI-2 code, might even serve well elsewhere.
EDIT: rumors say, support for Logitech Harmony has ended.

Hello,

We now offer the same MRC but with a metal cover, improved and enlarged battery compartment and lasered text in the cover. It's more sturdy. Please ask your RME retailer for the latest MRC from the manufakturer, if you are interested.

Re: remote control rme ADI 2 DAC fs

Why not just use a thicker battery? CR2032 will help.

There is an CR2032 in there now.

Is it really drastically better because the original one isn't good? It is sturdy enough but it doesn't really works.

I tried several things but it doesn't work very long. Thanks for the help.

Teslanol T6 turned out to be a permanent fix, wherever I used it.
Opposed to other contact cleaners which often make things worse in the long run.

So far I only used K60 and their Tuner 600 spray. Teslanol T6 seems to be a good and useful alternative, will try. Thanks.

Re: remote control rme ADI 2 DAC fs

Does anyone used the old remote and the new remote? And know if the new one much better. Because the new one cost 42 € which is not small?

How much does a CR2032 cell cost?

I understand your question is rhetorical, but still:

The chin-cheap ones quite often do measure fine (unloaded voltage 3.3 V), but can’t deliver the necessary current under load.

So you end up having replaced the battery, damn the remote that still doesn’t seem to work, but in fact have a weak battery.

I was hinting at post #4 that the OP elected to overlook. Replacing the CR2025 with a CR2032 will solve the contact issue once and for all, as it did for me and, reportedly, for a few others.

Extended Remote
Since firmware version DSP30 the unit can be remote controlled by third party remotes and custom IR transmitters. Renowned remote manufacturer Logitech added the ADI-2 DAC to its data base. Others can use the codes documented here:
http://www.rme-audio.de/download/adi2da … mmands.zip
Available are the original buttons, all 31 remap commands (direct access without remapping) as well as Bass +/-, Treble +/- and Balance L/R.

I have a one plus Nord 4 smartphone with an infrared remote. But it needs a QR code to add the buttons. Does rme has a QR code so I can add it? By the way I have put a c2032 battery in it and for now it works. So thanks for the tip.
