Topic: AOX-D Why can't I do less than 128 ins/outs?

I'm having some strange performance issues with Cubase/Windows 11/AOXD where the recording is dropping out quite frequently even when just recording 1 mono track...

Obviously there are quite a few variables I need to trouble shoot here, but I wanted to try reducing the number of inputs/outputs connecting to Cubase anyway... just because I only need 32 at the moment.

Not saying it's related, but still... just want to run through variables/tests.

Is there a reason I can only reduce down to 128, and not 64 or 32?

Re: AOX-D Why can't I do less than 128 ins/outs?

You can reduce the number of active ASIO channels in Cubase to any number you like somewhere in the setup, have you tried that? But even that doesn't directly affect the actual recording process. Can you provide a sample of what you get when recording?

In Cubase you simply don't assign more than a few channels to the hardware (Input / Output), then ASIO is limited from Cubase side.

Okay good to know, thanks.

I'll do a little more trouble shooting on my end and eliminate some variables before taking up your time.

What I am getting is a full on drop out, recording stops with the Cubase warning prompt. Pretty random intervals - sometimes within 10 seconds, sometimes recording lasts minutes.

- Cubase ASIO/performance settings
- Dante network
- Windows 11 problem/optimization
- aoxd
- Computer hardware interference

All variables I need to explore. This is a new setup so I have a lot to go through. Previously I was on Windows 7 with a Lynx Aurora and AES pcie card, 16 channel recording for over a decade without problems... So I'm starting from scratch.
