Topic: ADI-2 DAC FS random poweroff during use

Hello everyone,

my ADI-2 DAC FS started doing this since a few weeks. Ive been using the dac for one year by now.

When powered on, after some time (at most 30 Minutes to 1 Hour) the dac randomly looses power and turns off. The power appears to be completly gone, since the standby LED is not lighting up red. After a few seconds it magicly turns on again.

Thats not always the case tho, one time i had to unplug the device for a while since it would just not turn on again. The power supply was not very warm or anything tho.

My guess is a bad power supply, but maybe its something different? I dont think its a loose connection since the cable cant move at all in the position its right now. I usually dont uplug the power supply when not using the dac, I just leave the device in standby mode.

Could someone help out or should i just buy a new power supply straight away?

Maybe you have a power supply of suitable specifications somewhere around the house for a test... 12V, 2A, pin positive, connected to an internet router or similar device...

Just to be sure:
Please check that you locked the plug. The ADI-2 PRO/DAC and other newer RME devices have lockable coaxial power connectors. It is mentioned in the manual how to use it.

I had these random power failures once. Worked for weeks and suddenly these strange failures. I had forgotten to lock the coaxial power connector again.
