Topic: UFXIII M-1620 Pro & Pulse16 MX Daisy Chaining

I have this connected and working fully, however experienced an issue I would like to better understand.

The issue is the P16 would randomly drop audio. It was pretty frequent (a few times a minute) but quite varied time between drops.

The MADI indicator on the P16 would become yellow as this happened and the red lights at the rear of the device would turn off I think as well.

I changed the order of the daisy chain and it's now working fine.

The working daisy chain is connected:

UFX Out -> P16 In
P16 Out -> 1620 In
1620 Out -> UFX In

The one that caused intermittent drops on the P16 was:

UFX Out -> 1620 In
1620 Out -> P16 In
P16 Out -> UFX In

I only recently got the 1620 and previous had the P16 connected via MADI without a hitch.

Just wondering if anyone had ideas of what the issue might have been. Im wondering if it is a configuration option on the 1620 I missed or something like that. I did not change any config just the physical cables connection order. All devices are on their current firmware/drivers.

Maybe a connectivity problem that disappeared after replugging the MADI devices in the new order?
To check that, you could revert the order and observe whether it's stable now or whether the issue reappears.

What is the setup? UFX III as clock master; M-1620 and Pulse 16 MX clock slaves via MADI?
Please take a screenshot of driver settings in both cases, before and after changing the order of devices.
It might be helpful, at least always good for seeing a few "facts" of the setup and status, thanks.

Thanks ramses that was a good idea. I put the cables back and it is fine, no dropouts.

With the issue on the P16 I noticed it's midi over madi indicator lighting up periodically, which I thought was odd as I wasn't using midi to control anything. Now it is always off, maybe something was spuriously sending clock or some other control signal over midi but all the reboots/restarts cleared it up.

So its working with the daisy chaining either way. I will keep it in this configuration which is the one that had issues initially. If it happens again I will take screenshots of the settings and config.

Excellent and very well done. :-) I am glad that this solved the issue for you.

I had no other idea, so the idea arose that this might be a "plugging issue". Not a cable issue, because otherwise you would still have the issue after switching the order of devices, but this was not the case.
