Topic: HDSPE MADI Fx issue on mac OS SEQUOIA

Hi there,

I own a HDSPe MADI Fx PCIe card that is installed in a Mac Pro 5.1 with Mojave OS and it worked like a charm but i need to update my OS to newer that i can update my Protools and all audio software.
So i decided to install SEQUOIA Os using OpenCore Legacy patcher on my Mac Pro 5.1.

I worked like a charm then i tried to install the HDSPe MADI Fx PCIe Card, so i first update the card firmware like describe on this page https://rme-audio.de/driverkit-info-hdspe.html when i was on my MOJAVE Os.
Then i install the new driver for DriverKit on SEQUOIA Os,  also i set the security system of Sequoia to be able to accept the RME GmBh, so i follow all instruction from this page too https://rme-audio.de/login-items-extens … ia-en.html

Now my HDSPe MADI Fx card is well recognized but sound on OUTPUT or INPUT in Total Mix (that is configured as it was on my Mojave Os. I set a new protools session with a tone generator on all Madi OUTPUT but no sound or vu meter movement in Total MIX

And now i'm stuck because the HDSPe MADI Fx card don't work on SEQUOIA and can't work anymore on MOJAVE because of the Firmware update.

-Is there a way to downgrade the HDSPe MADI Fx Card firmware to be again Mojave compatible ?
-Is it a issue using Opencore legacy patcher on Macpro 5.1 with Sequoia with a updated HDSPe MADI Fx Card ?

Your help is much appreciated because i have to fix it as soon as possible cause lot of recording session is coming

Re: HDSPE MADI Fx issue on mac OS SEQUOIA

Updating a Mac to an unsupported version of macOS is risky. A macOS update may also update the firmware on your Mac, which may not be compatible with the hardware. If possible (although I’m not sure this is possible), I recommend rolling back to macOS Mojave.

Thank you for your reply
I would like to roll back to Mojave but my Hdspe  card is updated and no more compatible with kernel driver
Is there a way to downgrade my PCIe card ?

Re: HDSPE MADI Fx issue on mac OS SEQUOIA

I have some news.
On Sequoia with the updated Hdspe card, when I reboot and start totalMix, then play sound through the HDSPe output on madi1/2, the playback 1/2 vumeter briefly indicate signal then the 17 to 24 playback vumeter are stuck in Overload position. So the hardware output of the same output are stuck too
I had to change frequency sample to stop the overload on those channels.
I think I should have a bad TotalMix config cause I import my workspace from the one I have in Mojave I reset the TotalMix console but same thing appear after à reboot. And after that I think the card is blocked, no sound at all on any Madi playback or output
1- Is there a way to completely uninstall the Sri et and TotalMix ( I mean all files, config files…)
And still the most important thing, can I downgrade my HDSPe Madi Fx card to the previous firmware, even if using windows ?
Your help is much appreciated

The card is still compatible to Kernel drivers - this is a misleading statement.

RME devices are not limited in firmware revisions - you can flash any version you like, any time. You just need the FUT with the firmware version that you want. Which one is that?

I tried to open FUT and flash my card again on Mojave but the card is no more recognize so when I opened FUT nothing happened , the software simply didn’t open
Am I doing something wrong ?

Re: HDSPE MADI Fx issue on mac OS SEQUOIA

Can you open Totalmix ?
Can you open the HDSPe FX Settings ?

Re: HDSPE MADI Fx issue on mac OS SEQUOIA

Your card is no longer recognized under Mojave - you did not disclose that you had set your OS back already. No card in the system - no driver - no FUT working.

You mentioned Windows - that would be the easiest solution to flash back. Rev 1 card would be 91, Rev 2 card 219. Simply download the latest driver and FUT for Windows, then make suire the DK compatible option is not selected in the FUT.

Hi Matthias,
Thank you for your reply
Unfortunately i'm not in the studio until August the 15th.
Can you share the link to DL the windows FUT and driver ?
Do you think if i reset the macPro 5.1 NVRAM my card will be recognize again on Mojave ?

NVRAM does not change something.
