Topic: 12mic AuxDevice setup with UFXIII

Hi all, I am finding this harder to do than than it probably should be.
I am really excited about my new UFXIII and 12Mic setup. I am trying to set the 12Mic up as an Aux device in TotalMix.
I can't seem to get the 12Mic to appear as a Midi. In the Mixer settings of TM, I get RME UFX ports 1-4. Which one is Madi?
I have the two units connected via coax as well as AVB. I can control the 12mic with the RME Connector as well as the http but can't seem to control it via TM. in the Aux Device setup, only the Octamic XTC appears not the 12mic.

Is there a webpage or YouTube somewhere which explains this step by step please?

This has been explained already in another forum thread. In short:

For Auxdevice you should use MIDI port 3 for MADI optical. This is documented in the manual.

UFX III Midi Port 1+2 - MIDI front / back
UFX III Midi Port 3 - midi over madi optical
UFX III Midi Port 4 - midi over madi coaxial

I recommend you to start with MADI / Auxdevice 1st to get at least something going.

Either use Auxdevice or RME Connector, using two different types of remot control is not possible.

I need some time to find the proper threads .. but maybe this information is already sufficient.

Same exact issue (No Response), here.
I'm unable to control the 12Mic from TM.
Everyone's figured out how to solve this issue?
Just to add more infos, I can control the 12Mic from the app Connector and from the browser via USB with no issues at all.

The devices are connected via Madi optical cable through Sfp module on 12Mic.

The settings are the following:

First setting Madi 1 - 8

1.device 12Mic 1 - 4

2.device 12Mic 5 - 8

Second setting Madi 9 - 16

1.device 12Mic 9 - 12

2.device none

For the input and output port 3

Totalmix menu options: Enable MIDI control

you have to set Input and output either Coax or Optical

Best would be if you could send more details, about what you did exactly.

Short summary from my side, this is how it runs here.
Except that I have the HDSPe MADI FX as main interface, but not long ago I also used the UFX III where it worked as well. Up to now it always worked, no matter whether TotalMix FX version 1.x or 2.x.

My 12Mic has firmware 2.0.1 (v176)
TotalMix FX 2.10 beta 3

On the 12Mic itself, it is important to configure MIDI control.
Press the "big knob": State -> Remote Control
Then press the 3rd button left of the screen for "MIDI"
Ensure that
- "MIDI Input" is set to "MADI Optical"
- "MIDI Output" is set to "MADI Optical"
- "Device ID" set to e.g. "1" (if this number has not been used already for other chained devices on the MADI bus)

Configure all devices (recording interface, 12Mic and any other chained madi device) to use the same
- MADI Format: 64ch
- MADI Frame: 96K frame
Where to find it?
- UFX III: in the driver settings dialog
- 12Mic: Web interface -> select "MADI optical" at the bottom and click the gear icon for MADI output settings.

Then in TotalMix FX
If you have multiple devices, select the instance for the UFX III at first.
Then in Options -> Mixer Settings (F3)
TAB "Auxdevice"

[assumed this is the 1st device and you start with MADI channel 1]

Channels (Bank): MADI 1-8
  Device 1
    Device Type: 12Mic 1-4
    Device-ID: 1
    MIDI In: UFX III Midi Port 3 (MADI optical)
    MIDI Out: UFX III Midi Port 3 (MADI optical)
  Device 2
    Device Type: 12Mic 5-8
    Device-ID: 1
    MIDI In: UFX III Midi Port 3 (MADI optical)
