Topic: Groups Mute does not mute send/return fx.

Is that a bug or oversight?

I established two mute groups (assigned mute buttons in hardware inputs to these groups, and by the way assigned two buttons on ARC USB, so I can mute these groups on the fly). But I have permanently turned all the way up return fx faders in all channels in Control Room, and send fx in hardware inputs channels. So a regular mute (with global mute upper right corner) works on every single channel even if effects are on...
But my assigned Group Mute mutes only original signals of Hardware Inputs but it does not mute the bus fx. If you know what I mean, you can still hear every hardware input but only over the fx bus.

That's UFX+, latest everything (firmware, drivers), Totalmix Fx 2.10 beta 2
Edit: Just downloaded beta 3 and it looks the same.

Re: Groups Mute does not mute send/return fx.

Well, it has been like that ever since and it is indeed intentional. From the manual:

The Mute groups operate – other than the global mute – exclusively for the current routing. This way you can not mute signals on all outputs unintentionally. Instead signals can be muted on specific submixes by the push of a button.

Global Mute refers to the simple Mute button press within the input channel, muting all routings.

Due to this useful second way to work the Aux signal can not be muted with Mute groups as it would be muted on all routings. Therefore this will most probably not change.

I will edit the unclear text for the Global Mute description, where it says 'One can comfortably set up a mute group or activate and deactivate several mute buttons simultaneously) - the Mute Group is not the same as pressing all the Mute buttons simultaneously, that would be the Master Mute button doing so.

Ok so there's no possibility to assign a button on ARC USB to mute a certain hardware input?

You can not mute the physical input

Re: Groups Mute does not mute send/return fx.

hmm... das ist seltsam, denn ich kann zwar bestimmte kanäle stummschalten, aber ich kann die stummschaltfunktion nicht den tasten zuweisen.

Edit: Oh sorry I was to explain myself in English, but just was absent minded and was thinking You were German, so that was natural for me to answer in German.

Anyway:
That’s strange, because I can mute specific channels, but I can't assign the mute function to ARC USB buttons.

You may use snapshots including the mute

Ok that would be a workable workaround. Thank you for this hint. But in long term not a good solution bc snapshots are of use for sth totally different.

So RME stuff: could I possibly please have this functionality on next Tm Fx 2.x - to include for Arc Usb buttons settings - mutes for hardware inputs?

Re: Groups Mute does not mute send/return fx.

It would be rather long list for certain interfaces. And it would probably need change of firmware in all/most interfaces...

Why not to use snapshots, or workspaces to do it?

But maybe RME could add setting to TotalMix, by which user could choose if muting by mute group mutes also FX, or not. But I do not know, if that could be implemented simply, I guess, it would also need firmware change...
