Hello, Spectroscope is indeed a very useful tool, and I am glad to see it added to Digicheck. At present, I hope it can be arranged in a window like in the picture (using only a 4-in-1 window), and support adjusting the frequency scale. I usually judge whether an audio file is "lossless" by observing the attenuation of high frequencies, so 10kHz~20kHz (even higher than 20kHz) is the range I focus on, which is very important and commonly used in mixing work.

DigiCheck NG 0.93 is now released for Mac and Windows, see updated links in first post.
It's brilliant MC!!
Thank you for the great new additions!
I'm desperately missing the "Always on top" option from the old Digicheck ![]()
And I've got Spectrogram questions:
1. FFT Size: How does '16384' differ from '16384 w. 8k Win'?
2. Is there any chance for a 'Display Speed' mode that relates to tempo in bpm?
2.1 Or how can I calculate pixels to tempo?
3. Is there any way you could implement the Spectrum Analyzers' 25hz-band magic to display dc information?
Thanks for 0.93. I am running RME UFX+ on MacOS Ventura. In Digicheck NG I am unable to select "Add playback channels" in Audio device setup. When I activate loopback on Hardware output AN1/2 in Totalmix it works fine. I am using the latest thunderbolt driver.
I am using the latest thunderbolt driver.
Afaik, you need to use the USB DriverKit driver (and connect your UFX+ via USB as well) to be able to select the Playbacks in DigiCheck NG.

Thanks for the update, my workspace #25.

I used two DC NG Windows and saved this as a workspace :-)
Before saving, click on the top window; this hides the Windows title of the 2nd window below.
hello,
i am loving digicheck NG immensely using it everyday here. thank you so much for making it so useful and fantastic!
i have a couple of feature requests.
1. i would like the oscilloscope to be able to change the width of the scope, or the width adjusted to the window size. now the ratio of hight and width are maintained and i would like to make the width longer. also to allow vert. positions in floating point so that i can separate stereo vertically and use up maximum space.
2. it would be great if digicheck automatically checks which RME device is connected and change the device accordingly. i always have to manually change the device in audio device setup between home and studio. i know it is only one step change haha. but if that's possible, the transition of physical spaces/devices are super smooth.
thanks!
Hi MC and team. I'm getting used to the entirely new Digitcheck NG for windows. It's much more functional but takes some getting used to.
I'm on v 0.93. There's one thing that I think was available in the previous Digicheck that is not apparently available in the new NG. Previously I was able to see a numeric oversample over level. The top level in the K-14 meter was +17 and I could read a numeric +14.1, 14.2, etc. as the amount of intersample over. Now I can't seem to read a numeric over, just the graph. When it's over +14 (0 dBFS true peak) the last segment goes white, but I do not have a numeric value on it.
I made a screenshot but I don't think I can post an image. It's basically a K-14 picture with +14 at the top.
Hello BobKatz
For screenshot you have to upload it to the internet with a public image service like imgbb or imgur.
It gives you a link, open this in your browser,
right-click the image
copy image-address
paste image-address between img tags in the forum post.
Are you the K-14 inventor ? Cool.
I see - the option OVS is not available when K-system is selected. We'll check that.
Previously I was able to see a numeric oversample over level.
We looked at this. Even with K-System off and Intersample Peak (TP) on, the +3dB overage headroom is visible only when Reference Level is between -9 and -0 dB, and disappears at lower reference levels (like -12, -14, or -20 dB as in K-System).
The Help documentation concurs: "For reference levels above -10dB, the display range is therefore extended upwards by 3dB."
Why not for lower reference levels?
I'd like to do a feature request (or two).
For the two AOX-D interfaces I have I'd like to use them seperately for the 'global overview' for all 256 input channels of each interface. It's really helpfull to see all the IO inputs to track down routing or bad connection issues.
Sorry to post: I'm puzzled. I'm trying to carefully watch the betas to see if/when the numeric display of intersample peak will be fixed. Also to restore the "stay in front" option.
But I'm not certain if I have the right version of Digicheck NG installed! My "about" menu says it's version 0.93 and nothing about the Beta. And when I run the installer for Beta 5, it says, "newer version is already installed". Do I have the beta 5 installed? The zip for beta 5 is labeled "digicheck_ng_win_093b5.zip" and contains an installer simply labeled "SetupDigicheckNG.msi" which gives me the error "a later version is already installed". Is this a nomenclature error?
As far as I remember Bob, the betas all came out BEFORE the official 0.93, so I think you already have the latest version, plain old 0.93.

10 months, not that old

Thanks. That of course explains my puzzle. So, hoping that MC can address my two concerns.
I like DigiCheck NG. But has anything yet been done to avoid the problem that requires renaming lastStateAnalysis.xml to .old?
David
I'd like to do a feature request for the Spectrum Analyzer.
It would be very useful to have the option to visually focus on a selectable frequency range. For example, the user could define lower and upper boundary frequencies, such as 200 Hz and 4 kHz, and everything outside that range would be slightly faded or dimmed visually.
The analyzer itself would still work normally, but the area outside the selected range would be visually de-emphasized, making it easier to concentrate on the important frequencies in the middle.
I thought this would be the right place to mention an ongoing small annoyance with DCNG that has been happening as far back as I can remember.
On a Mac with 2 screens where DCNG is on second screen off to the side with no menu bar on that screen, when the Mac turns off the screens or anytime the sleep or screen off function occurs but the Mac is still on, when you wake up the screens the DCNG window has jumped over to the main screen.
Any TMFX or or Fireface settings windows or other program windows previously left on the second screen do not do this. Only the DCNG window jumps like this.
Kind regards
Hi there,
The official download page for DigiCheck NG with VU meters links to `digicheck_ng_mac_093.zip`.
Is this the official release version that incorporates the features from the previously discussed and publicly released 0.92 beta, including the VU meter functionality?

Thank you very much. I have been using this great feature since the beta stage.
I have one question specifically about the VU meter. When mixing, I might set the reference level (headroom) to, for example, -18 dBVU and work at that level throughout the mix. Then, when I move on to mastering the final 2-mix, I may want to change the reference level to -9 dBVU. This means I have to manually change the VU reference level.
Is there a simpler or more convenient way to set this up, for example, so that I can easily switch between these two reference levels?
You can load the same instrument VU-meter multiple times each one can have its own reference level setting.
No need to switch between those, keep them up running side by side.
Or you may try to create and save two different workspaces with settings needed. Say Mixing, Mastering and many more. I have not tried, but I guess, it should work as you need.
Just try and you will see, if it works as I anticipate.

But switching between two workspace is still cumbersome as there is no quick workspace select, one has to click the menu manually with the mouse, right ?
Or do you know a keyboard shortcut ?
For sure, there is keyboard shortcut for Quick Select (W) on Win, I am not sure, whether there is QS on Mac at all.
And maybe even works direct shortcut Alt+1 and so on... But I have not made it work. But I have not succeded even in TotalMix where it works for sure... So, I evidently do something wrongly. Which means, that I have not prooved suffitiently Alt+1, etc. does not apply to DigiCheck.
Maybe Ramses knows better. I do not use workspaces.
-------------------------
But back to OP. I guess, he does not need swift switching there and back, in his use case. Just more comfortable switching.
Your suggestion is also good. Just, DC has only 4 instrument, so all would be used by meters, which is OK, if one does not need also others, but otherwise... OK one could open more DC windows...
Open a second DC window, have 8 instruments, 4 on the left side for mixing and 4 on the right side for mastering
That's fantastic. I never even imagined that it would be possible to open multiple instances of the display and assign a different monitor source to each one. That solves one problem!
And then there is one thing remaining. This may actually be a very basic question, so I feel a little embarrassed to ask, but I assume that the stereo out from a DAW is generally sent to the Software Playback section in TotalMix. What would be the best way to assign one of those Software Playback sources — the middle row in TotalMix — as the monitor source in DigiCheck?
Enable "add playback channels" in the settings, then you can select this playback signal from the DAW for the analizer-instrument

I finally understand it now. Thank you!
It would be even easier to understand if the names in the Playback section were automatically linked to and changed according to the names in TotalMix, wouldn't it?
Best,
Good idea
Would be nice, but TM probably would have to send names to driver and DC would have to get it from driver. And that would have to be fairly well synchronized.
And what if a user uses duplicit names? It does not matter in TM, but might in DC.... But still, probably doable. Maybe.... Remember that there are severe obstacles to use user labels uniformly/everyplace in TM. So....

I think it would already make things much more convenient if users could simply assign their own names to the sources on the DigiCheck side. (Although, if this is already possible, I apologize!)
