Topic: TotalMix FX Wiped Out My Settings After Reboot

Just got a UFX III and spent hours yesterday configuring the settings to control my 12Mic and get the layout just how I like it. I stored my layout multiple times after tweaking it and it all disappeared after a reboot today.

Is there any way I can retrieve those configurations? If not, what do I need to do differently to save them after I redo them? I'm no TotalMix expert, but I get by, and I don't recall this ever happening with the UFX II I just replaced.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

More details about the setup, please.
You can save workspaces to your computer.

Re: TotalMix FX Wiped Out My Settings After Reboot

Thanks for the quick response. I just redid my configurations and saved the workspace. It's been so long since I did that with the UFX II that I hadn't remembered that step.

Is there a way that I can get it to reload the workspace automatically after a reboot? I just rebooted again to see what would happen and it reverted to the default. I was able to get my configurations back by loading the workspace, but it seems like there must be a way to get it to do that automatically.

Re: TotalMix FX Wiped Out My Settings After Reboot

What is your OS?
Is the 12Mic connected via MADI?
Do you have Auxdevice configured to remote control the 12Mic through TotalMix FX (via MIDI over MADI)?
What settings are you losing? TotalMix FX settings like routing or settings of the 12 Mic (like gain)?

Normally your current TM FX settings do not get lost as they become stored in the "last settings file" when TM FX quits. This last settings file will be loaded at the next startup.

EDIT: I discovered you had a Windows PC in the past. Assuming you have a Windows PC.

The last settings file you can find here in your users profile:
C:\Users\<loginname>\AppData\Local\TotalMixFX\last.FirefaceUFXIII1.xml

I would check if this file can be updated by TotalMixFX when it quits; for this, it has to be writeable.

Look at the timestamp of this file, write it down, wait 1-2 minutes, reboot, and recheck. Did the timestamp change?

Re: TotalMix FX Wiped Out My Settings After Reboot

Windows 11
Yes
Yes
The channel layouts were reverting, as were my Aux. Device settings. The "last settings file" in C:\ProgramData\TotalMixFX hadn't updated since yesterday, so I deleted it. That one hasn't been recreated, but I do see one now with a current timestamp in C:\Users\Ben Chase\AppData\Local\TotalMixFX. Oddly, I didn't deselect "Store Settings for All Users", but it's no longer checked, TotalMix seems to be looking to the "last settings file" in my user profile, and my settings are sticking, so I guess I'm good.

Well, if you use
[x] Store settings for All users (which isn't the default btw!)
then all TotalMix FX related files are stored at a different place: C:\ProgramData\TotalMixFX
