Topic: Different levels on UCXII's stereo inputs 5/6 and 7/8 aren't saved

On a UCXII's when analog inputs 5, 6, 7 and 8 are set to stereo neither Totalmix FX's Workspace nor Snapshot remember different levels between L & R channels, instead it sets them both to the lowest value. Inputs 1, 2, 3 and 4 work like they should. Is there something I'm doing wrong ?

Re: Different levels on UCXII's stereo inputs 5/6 and 7/8 aren't saved

More details about the setup, please. Platform, driver, firmware, TM version...

Thank you !
Mac mini M4 Pro, MacOS 27, UCXII w. driver 4.27 & firmware v106, Totalmix FX v.2.10 b4. Also Babyface v1 w. driver 4.27 & firmware 226 whose analog in levels are remembered correctly by Totalmix - just like UCXII's 1 to 4 analog in levels.

Are you talking about the set Ref Level or the Gain?

Re: Different levels on UCXII's stereo inputs 5/6 and 7/8 aren't saved

Test with offline device UCX II in TM 2.1 shows, all is working, gain L/R, pan, width, ref.level, faders, all is saved and recalled in snapshot. Input channels 1 up to the last.

Can't reproduce the issue of the OP.

I guess it is mistake by saving action, click a snapshot number field before save button or so.

The gain on analog inputs 5 to 8. Since on these, contrary to analog 1 to 4, it isn't possible to change gain of L & R independently when set to stereo, I switch to mono, do the change, switch back to stereo, and save a workspace. When switching to another workspace and back, the gain of both inputs has become the same.

Stereo-input channel shows two numbers L/R move the mouse over one of the two numbers and use mouse-wheel or two fingers on the trackpad, set the input gain for left and right individually , no problem. And the snapshot does recall it fine.

If you may do a test : Disconnect the interface and use Totalmix offline device UCX ll and check for difference regarding your issue...

Thank you. I know the procedure and as I said before it works here with the UCXII's inputs 1 to 4 but not 5 to 8, and the different levels obtained by the workaround of switching to mono and back disappear when saving and reloading the workspace.
I just tried your test and indeed when disconnecting the UCXII, closing the mixer window and opening a new one everything becomes normal in Totalmix FX - until I reconnect the UCXII. I did a full factory reset of the UCXII just to be sure, to no avail.

Re: Different levels on UCXII's stereo inputs 5/6 and 7/8 aren't saved

Analog inputs 5 to 8 can work in mono mode or in stereo mode. In mono mode you get individual gains, in stereo mode identical gains. This is based on the device functionality where in the display's menu you can't set different gains when in stereo mode.

When changing from mono mode to stereo mode the gains are equallized. This is not shown correctly in TM FX directly after the change due to a stereo gain element. This element will be replaced with a single gain one in old and new TM FX.

Re: Different levels on UCXII's stereo inputs 5/6 and 7/8 aren't saved

Thank you Matthias. This hardware limitation seems a bit odd but it's no big deal since even when Totalmix treats inputs 5 > 8 as mono it doesn't keep Logic and Ableton from treating them as 5/6 and 7/8 stereo anyway.
