Topic: Open Remote Control (ORC): SSL UF1 as a fancy ARC for TotalMix
Hi!
If you have all 3 SSL Surfaces (UF8, UC1 and UF1) and you're anything like me, you find that the UF1 really doesn't get much use besides the other two. I bought it for my work on Rea-Sixty, an Open-Source Extension (360 Replacement) for SSL Hardware on REAPER, so I had all the buttons, fader and displays sniffed out and ready to do whatever.
The UF1 just sat there next to my rme ARC.
I looked at it. And then the ARC. Back to the UF1... and it hit me: It's just an ARC with 2 displays and more buttons!
So I built a small Mac app that turns the SSL UF1 into a remote control for TotalMix FX. It's called ORC, it's free, and it sits in the menu bar, no DAW needed.
The fader, the pots and the keys move TotalMix directly over Global OSC, and the two screens on the UF1 show what TotalMix is doing: channel names and colours, levels, the EQ with graph, reverb and echo.
You need macOS 13 or later, a UF1 on USB and TotalMix FX 2.1 or later. SSL 360 has to be closed while ORC has the UF1. In TotalMix it takes one free OSC remote with Global OSC switched on; the ports are in the README.

If you work in REAPER: my extension Rea-Sixty has the same view built in and takes the UF1 over from ORC while REAPER runs.
If something doesn't work, open an issue on GitHub or reply here.
Best,
Frank
