how do I insert a jpg into a message?  picture worth thougsand words

is it better to connect to my computer using the FW800 ports? or and adapter on the FW400 cable? (MacPro's only have FW800 ports)

If I'm recording an new track into an existing session, does my input routing to output over-ride the playback to output routing for that affected input and is it all in synch?
