Topic: RME 400: weird / sporadic slowdowns on recording...

so i'm a dj.. and i recorded an hour long set (a few times) and what I am experiencing is never heard before:  upon playback of my recorded material: out of the blue in a constant stream of sound.. a slowdown in audio or pitchdown.. that lasts no more than a a couple of seconds.. then goes back to regular play..  but it's peppered through the hour-long mix...

i use the RME 400 at 44.1Khz.. i have disconnected it properly/turned it off-on/ upgraded the firmware/ but seems like it continues to happen

it's connected to a Windows XP machine...

it works great for the most part!  but these pitchdown spots are not acceptable!

has anybody experienced anything like this?

kindly yours,

L

Have you got Windows trying to play system sound on the FF?

I am pretty sure I disabled systems sounds from Windows but I will check this again today. Thx

Re: RME 400: weird / sporadic slowdowns on recording...

confirmed:  system sounds was disabled.   i did have analog 3+4 however set to output the computers audio (internet, itunes).. so i will be disabling that when recording.

also, i had my two inputs going into the two front analog 3+4 set as Instrument instead of Pad.  that would have affected the input stage by 12db.. but not sure it would have caused these "slowdown dropouts" in recording...

Re: RME 400: weird / sporadic slowdowns on recording...

issue solved... essentially disabled simultaneous playback of windows sounds (not system sounds but browser, itunes), while recording
