Topic: RME DIGI 96/8 PAD optical in and expansion boards

Hi everyone..
I want to buy a SH RME DIGI 96/8 PAD.
My questions are:
1. does it support 24bit/48KHz optical (spdif not ADAT) in?
2. A friend got some old AIO4 Expansions from a DIGI9652 (he got a digital mixer and use only ADAT in and out) that is willing to gave them to me. Will they work on the RME DIGI 96/8 PAD ?
3. Does it work in XP SP3 or Mac OS 10.5.7 (Power Mac 1.6 PPC)?

Many thanks.

Re: RME DIGI 96/8 PAD optical in and expansion boards

1. Yes
2. If it's from a 9652, it must be an AEB, not AI4O, and it will work, replacing ADAT I/O (not adding channels).
3. Yes. See http://www.rme-audio.de/en_techinfo_con … osx_compat

Many thanks.
I will stay then on PC.

Re: RME DIGI 96/8 PAD optical in and expansion boards

I have a question again, I hope it won't be necessary to open another thread:
1. if I use the AEB (replacing the ADAT) , can I use the optical input as SPDIF too ?
And how many inputs I will have in the same time?
Let's say  I want to record on optical spdif and those 4 AEB inputs... will they be shown in Cubase or other ASIO Host ?

Many thanks

Sorry, it's either ADAT/AEB or SPDIF. The card will do a maximum of 8 channels.

Re: RME DIGI 96/8 PAD optical in and expansion boards

OK, but if I need the optical spdif input, it's only a question of "control panel" switch, or should I turn off the PC and disconect the AEB ?
And other thing, can I use the analog factory input (not AEB) and the digital in , as multiple recording sources ? (multitrack)
or I have only one option: analog or digital ?

Thank you.

Re: RME DIGI 96/8 PAD optical in and expansion boards

I finally got the DIGI 96 8 PST.
I sounds great , and I use the optical spdif out from my Korg M3 and record thru Optical In of the RME CARD.
I have try to use digi check but as I saw , the only way is MME and the INPUT as source.
Can it be set to output ?
The ASIO input or output is unavaileble, and can not be selected.
Is MME Input the only choice for this card ?
