Topic: RME digi96 Pad - Windows 7 motherboard conflict

Yes the Digi96 Pad card in a PCI slot on its own works fine in Windows 7....

BUT

When the Digi96 Pad is installed into a PCI slot (any slot!!) it disables the on board (motherboard) audio. There is no audio available to Windows Media Player and similar software and the digi96 pad card is not available to these audio players.

Professional software like Adobe Audition 3 and Reaper can see the Digi96 Pad card fine and it works perfectly, but I can't use media players / video players because they can't see either the motherboard audio or the Digi96 Pad.

If I remove the Digi96 Pad card from the PCI slot, then Windows 7 sees the motherboard sound card with no problem - so the drivers of the motherboard audio are installed OK.

Is it something to do with interrupt priorities??

please help!

Hello,

this is something the mainboard does when it sees another audio card. If there is no BIOS option to always enable onboard sound, you may need e.g. a USB device for Multimedia stuff...
