Topic: DIGI9652 Hammerfall breakout cable

Hi,
I'd like to use coaxial SPDIF on my DIGI 9652. I coudn't find the breakout cable so I ordered
RME Digital SPIDF Breakout Cable (BO9632) . That doesn't work (connected to a TASCAM DAT Player, In or Out).

from what I gather, that cable maybe has this configuration:
Pin Name           Pin Name            Pin Name
1 GND              4 AES Out +         7 SPDIF In -
2 SPDIF Out +      5 AES In +          8 AES Out -
3 SPDIF In +       6 SPDIF Out -       9 AES In -

but the 9652 manual states:
Pin assignment of the cable adapter:

Pin Signal          Pin Signal
9 SPDIF In +      5 SPDIF In -
6 SPDIF Out +   1 SPDIF Out -

Which cable do I really need (is there a part number 36018 I can order from somewhere)? Anybody want to sell me one?

thanks,
John

Re: DIGI9652 Hammerfall breakout cable

Problem resolved. I need the RME Breakout Cable BOHDSP9652, not BO9632. Thanks to tech support.

I did spend some quality time sodering a cable (cutting up some DB-9 cable laying around the house) that works with the pinout as the 9652 manual states...

Re: DIGI9652 Hammerfall breakout cable

Hi,
I have used 9636(52) for more than 15 years with Spdif outpu, input. I plan to use XLR, and diy a XLR cable. What is the Pin assignment for AES out on DIGI9636/52.

thanks a lot for reply

Re: DIGI9652 Hammerfall breakout cable

Hi, Matthias,
thank you for the fast reply.

In the manual,
21.2 Pin assignment of the cable adapter
Pin Signal          Pin Signal
9 SPDIF In +     5 SPDIF In -
6 SPDIF Out +   1 SPDIF Out -

I only see SPDIF out, no AES out, no Ground.
Shell I use SPDIF +/- as AES+/-, without Ground?

My even older 96/8 pad works in a differant way. D-sub has both SPDIF out and AES out.
Pin assignment of the XLR/RCA Cable's D-type connector
Pin Name
1 GND
4 AES Out +
7 SPDIF In -
2 SPDIF Out +
5 AES In +
8 AES Out -
3 SPDIF In +
6 SPDIF Out -
9 AES In -

Re: DIGI9652 Hammerfall breakout cable

Does anybody know how to get the AES out from the DIGI9636(52)'s 9 pin D-type connector?
Thanks,

Re: DIGI9652 Hammerfall breakout cable

By checking 'Pro' in the Settings dialog (and further reading of the manual...).
