Topic: Help... Controlling phones and main out via MIDI

Hey guys, please pardon a potentially noob question but I've spent hours trying to figure out how to control the headphones and main out volumes with an Akai MK49.

I want to assign the MK's sliders to control the TotalMix sliders.  Can someone walk me through the process on both ends?  Is this even possible?

32. MIDI Remote Control
32.1 Overview
TotalMix can be remote controlled via MIDI. It is compatible to the widely spread Mackie Control
protocol, so TotalMix can be controlled with all hardware controllers supporting this standard.
Examples are the Mackie Control, Tascam US-2400 or Behringer BCF 2000.
Additionally, the stereo output faders (lowest row) which are set up as Monitor Main outputs in
the Monitor panel can also be controlled by the standard Control Change Volume via MIDI
channel 1. With this, the main volume of the Fireface is controllable from nearly any MIDI
equipped hardware device. An example of a small MIDI controller covering such MIDI functionality (and even some more) is
the Behringer BCN44. This little box has 4 pots and 8 buttons for all the above functions – for
less than 60 Euros $50.00 U.S.

Re: Help... Controlling phones and main out via MIDI

I'm a little confused about what I have to physically do.  Do I need to configure either component or should it just work?  How do I set which sliders controls which volume?

I have tried putting the ufx into midi control mode but nothing happens when I move the MK49's sliders.

Re: Help... Controlling phones and main out via MIDI

If you want to control totalmix via midi you must read and follow the instructions in the User Manual! The entire answer to your question is in the User Manual starting on page 75. In my previous post I told you page 78 which is for the fireface 800 however in your last statement you indicated you are using the fireface UFX which has a differant User Manual. Therefore the page was incorrect for your application. So get your user manual turn to page 75 and begin reading for complete instructions.

MIDI Remote Control always operates in View Submix mode, even when the View Option Free
is currently selected in TotalMix FX.

Re: Help... Controlling phones and main out via MIDI

Hi
I have an additional question re. controlling Totalmix via midi (in this case the HDSP totalmix v.3.01 - quite similar to the Total mix I know from the Fireface800 version at my work)

I can control the main out with the sliders on my Axiom49 keyboard - and I can (in another preset) change my main out to be 3 - 4 - nice with an extra pair of monitors
But I have a sub connected
It is routed out in channel 5 - but I can not control 3 faders (1 - 2 - 5 or 3 - 4 - 5) with my midikeyboard
The channels are linked in totalmix and i can  control them in totalmix - but not via Midi

Is it possible?
What to do?

(I have read the manual - can´t find the solution...)

The linking of these channels has to be done on the remote. Such a feature is not part of TotalMix.

Okay
but what remote?
Do you mean the midi keyboard?
or are you planning to make a remote like ARC for the AES/EBU PCIe card (see that would be nice...:-))
